Im getting a new tranny soon and i was wondering what should i do before hand. im just hit 100,000k miles and im on a stock clutch. clutch feels fine. should i get it replaced? what am i missing for passing 100,000k miles (maint. wise)??

If you're replacing your tranny you might as well do the clutch at the same time. What are your future plans? That would dictate what clutch you pick

im getting my old one rebuilt. .... im wanting a daily driver.. im happy with 300-350 hp. so im going to get 2600 act. but after 100k isnt their something else i should get changed? i cant remember. if i buy a clutch it should be that much more then what i was quoted to install it then right? since he has to take it off...?

I'm assuming someone else is doing all the work?

They shouldn't charge you anything additional (or very little) to install a different clutch, unless they have to machine your flywheel, or modify something else to work with your particular aftermarket clutch. But...they might want to charge you a labor minimum (1/2 hour?) to unbolt the old clutch and install the new one if it wasn't removed when they pulled the tranny.

Personally, I would want to pull the old clutch anyway while the tranny is out to inspect the flywheel, rear seal, etc., even if you aren't gonna replace it. And while you're at it, go ahead and have them replace the rear main seal since it's right there. Shouldn't be more than a few bucks for the seal and another 10 minutes of labor.

Is that something else you are thinking of the timing belt??? I believe its supposed to be changed at 70k and if you haven't done it yet then I highly recomend that you do.

TRE does good work. I'm pretty happy with mine. I'd replace the clutch while it's out, but that's just me. Check the slave cylinder.. or rebuild it. It's pretty simple to do.

Might as well replace the rubber bushings where the shifter cables mate up to the tranny with ABEC bearings. It's a cheap mod and gets rid of a lot of shifter mush.

Yes Quaife LSD will help for sure and for the clutch might as well replace it now since the tranny and everything is going out.

ok.. update. TRE just got back with my auto shop and said i would need a stage 2 rebuild to fix what i messed up and a new 1 gear and new diff. my options given to me were oem diff. helical-type diff. or quaife. ( in order from least to more expensive...... now i read while i searched that their are really only two manifactures for lsd for dsm's quaife and kaaz. so im confused.... does tre make their own lsd? ( i opted for said helical type because i cant afford to wait for my car to be in the shop anylonger and i was told it would be awhile for them to get a quaife where as the helical type was readily available)

I can't find anything on their site about their own LSD. Just the Quaife. If thats too much then just go OEM. The stage 2 rebuild is great. I love it on my car. I just wish they would have offered the options back when I got mine. I would have gotten the double synchro first gear option.

Slowboyracing has an LSD insert.......

www.extremepsi.com has inserts for sale as well.

The inserts work great as long as your not making more than 400whp....and they're the cheapest option.

I say, get an ACT2100 kit with street disc, XACT Flywheel, LSD insert, Shifter bushings, and some good Tranny fluid. You and your drivetrain will be really happy!

Don't get the LSD insert those inserts will eventually go and when they do kiss your tranny goodbye. If you are getting anything get a true lsd. I have the Kaaz in mine and it is unreal how good it is. My tranny is on its way to Tre right now I basically got a stage 2 with shotpeening, 16% taller fifth gear, and steel shift rails for all gears. I am fully built and looking to put down about 450 whp and about 380 to 412ft lbs of tq. Before i pulled the tranny the car dynoed at 300 whp and 300ft lbs at 16lbs with no timing and still running rich and I barely get the tires breaking loose in 2nd. I understand that you don't want the additional downtime but it pays in the long run to get a true lsd and if you can wait at all to have that done i would HIGHLY suggest it. You can do some research on these and other forums and see the results of those inserts and i have friends that have went with them and wound up having to buy new trannys when they go. You are having a great tranny built don't destroy it by cutting corners.
