Ok I'm on this site everyday trying to school myself on turbos and set ups...but I have a question...If I buy this turbo(link provided below) which waste gate should I go with with(please provide )links?? I found out I will be coming into some money within the next wek or so and now have les time than I thought to buy the parts needed to ge this beast running....thanks in advance

cxracing.com: GT35 Turbo Charger, with Anti-Surge Air Inlet , for 4 to 6 CLYN Engines

I guess I should have started the thread with that information but I just wanted to answer your question. I personally wouldnt buy any CRXracing turbo's. Buy genuine turbos from notable companies and save yourself the headaches and extra costs from rebuilds down the road.

I'll agree with Justin, your better off to either buy a used one from our forsale section, or check out some of our vendors and purchase one from them. Cheap isn't always best but I do understand because we all own DSM's we can be cheap sometimes but this isn't one of them.

Here is one from our forsale section

Any turbo you choose will certainly be an upgrade of the stock t25 that came on your 95 GST

Let us know if there is any way we can help, also if you have just some general questions our search function on the site will be very helpful.

The size of the wastegate depends on how much boost you plan to run. The more boost you run, the less the wastegate is "working", so the smaller it can be. If you want to run less than 18psi, I'd recommend a 44mm gate.

Also, I'd be extremely skeptical of the quality of a brand new $369 GT35 turbo. If it were me, I'd take a MHI 16G over that thing any day of the week.

EDIT: Late again... ;)

There are reasons why you find cheap parts on eBay. A big misconception is some parts is "you pay for a name" which ultimatly is incorrect in this matter (for the most part). Sure, a turbo is a turbo, however what materials were used to build it, what kind of tolerences are there, was it proplerly balanced, can all the internals be found in a single rebuild kit (eBay 16g turbos use MHI and Garret parts so you need 2 kits)?

A lot of things you buy will be inferior to a name brand item and I would in no way use any critical parts that came from an eBay brand. Then again, there are a lot of things you CAN get for cheap on eBay and they are just as good (at times).

As the saying goes, "you get what you pay for" is looking pretty good for that turbo since the real version is over a grand...why is it so much cheaper?

I personally would not buy this, there's a reason why a turbo that is $1300 give or take is been sold for $300ish. I know it seems tempting and some of us are on a budget, but with that money put a nitrous kit on the car or something tuned well and i'll be more happy LOL.

As far as eBay, the only ebay product I have on my car is a tubular mitsu flanged manifold, I rewelded the runners and voila! It's been working great for about a year already. However, I know lots of people who have not been as lucky.

dont buy is just check the classifieds on this forum... there are a bunch of great deals on here...if you can get a used one from here, even if its blown you can get it re-build for a good price

Not 35R's but I saw some nice turbos been sold here the other day for that price range, working ones too!

The turbo is not an Ebay turbo. This is a turbo built by CXracing to run the same as a garrett GT35R...I know a name brand turbo would be the optimal way to go BUT I'm not going to tracking or racing this car, it will be my other means of transportation when it's not a good idea to ride my motorcycle to work due to weather so it may only get driven 10k miles in a year, MAX...Plus between my mortgage, truck, and motorcycle payments I don't have the money to buy a name brand turbo...I understand that garrett is a great name but when they started they were in the same situation CXracing is in now...people said to stay away from garrett, go with this comapny because they are proven... Now garrett is proven and people are afraid to go with anyone else...I remember when garrett's turbos were this cheap when they first started....

You need to understand that CXRacing doesn't build SHIT....they are a distributor of Chinese performance parts that began selling on eBay, much like SSAutoChrome and XSPower did in their day. It's the same ChinaBay journal bearing GT35 that blew on TalonDave's car in 400 miles a few years ago.

This topic has been outlined in a similar thread about "Godspeed" turbos:

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Just because it's CX Racing, it's not name brand. eBay is good for pipes, silicone hoses, shit like that. I use the stuff from there, but def. not any engine parts (if any), turbos, sensors, stuff like that.

New to turbos but want a gt35r, 16g is all you ever need, buy a used one and send it to jusmx.

I don't want to sound like a d**K nor am I saying that you are wrong.....but.....you have had first hand experience with this turbo in question? If you have please explain to me why i should not purchase this turbo, please tell me how this turbo is made, with what materials, etc..this is the type of info I'm looking for...Not hear-say....I don't care if you heard that these turbos suck from some buddy's sister's boyfriend who knew a guy who was dating some chick who's brother worked in the packaging dept of a competing turbo company... I'm looking for first hand experience....I'm sure if this turbo was so shitty that they would not be in business....

Like i said earlier... this car will not be raced, or taken to the drag strip....it will be driven only in sh**ty weather that i don't want to ride my bike in...so i don't see spending $900+ on a turbo to put in a car that will hardly be driven...I don't need name brand, top of the line equipment right now...if the turbo does crap out on me....I'll sell the car...I can deal with losing $300 on a so called crappy turbo than I could if I spent $1000 on a good name brand turbo and have the same thing happened....

If i was planning on keeping this car for ever or building a stroker motor....I'd spend the money on the good stuff

.

:cough: FP 68HTA :cough: :p :thumb:

That is a nice turbo....YOu have $925 you can give me to buy this??? this is out of my price range... if this was the ONLY thing I had to buy to get the car running it would be a different story...

if you are only going to drive it in shitty weather periodically why not just get a good used 14b or the E316G?

you don't have to do any fab work i.e spend more money than what a new E316G will cost to get the chinacharger to bolt up to the stock stuff and you know it will not leave you stranded in crappy weather for that 1 time you take it out.

If you are hell bent on using it then just get an ebay 38mm wastegate for $25 and pray everything works

So why do you want such a large turbo for a shit weather DD especially on a GST. It almost seems like you are driving the wrong car for this weather.

Try having a motorcycle as your only vehicle for 2 years. I've had to ride my motorcycle in snowstorms to get to work/home. It's not all that bad even on a gsxr 750. Heavy downpours were nothing either m

Jusmx141 makes a bussiness out of rebuilding turbos so he knows what he is talking about. You should listen to him. Now, Quality this turbo does not have an Internal wastegate? Unless you are already setup to run an EWG you will have to buy this turbo, Plus an EWG. Plus buy a manifold to take the EWG or modify your current setup to use an EWG. This turbo is also not flanged for the DSM exhaust so now you have to find a way to marry the turbo to your exhaust......There are plenty of other small expenses I could list but I think you are getting the poing. Its starting to look very expensive to me

Oh I just read that this is flanged for a T3. So you will definatly need a new mani or get an adapter.... Plus finding a way to integrate it into your FMIC.

bro honestly after reading your response to Justin I personally will not continue to help you on this, you are being hard headed.

You have a shit load of replies telling you it's crap, posts to confirm it from a guy who rebuilds turbos for a living. yet, you insist it's the right choice, well what are you waiting for, get the freakin' thing and put it on already.

THERE IS A REASON WHY IT IS SO CHEAP, FOR THAT PRICE GET SOMETHING GENUINE USED IN THE CLASSIFIEDS.

By the way the reply of the FP HTA68 was not towards you, it was a joke and you ask me for the money to put it on? Come on bro!

Not an "R". The one you're looking at is a journal bearing turbo, not ball bearing. It's reverse engineering to be similar to Garrett's product, but if it were also the same quality, it would probably cost as much as the Garrett. There's a reason why it's cheaper. These Chinese manufacturers don't need to pay engineers and metallurgists to assure that the product is going to perform. They also aren't working with as tight of a tolerance as Garrett. And do you really think they're buying the best materials to use to make the components in that $369 turbo? There's a good reason why that turbo is less than 1/3 of the price of the turbo manufacturer that they're copying. They had to cut corners somewhere to get the costs down.

Did you not read the thread I linked in post #3?

I'm not going to sit here and sum up everything in that thread for you. Do your own research, make your own decisions....I've already done my part.

For what it's worth, I built the turbo setup that TalonDave is currently using on his car out of a junkyard HX40 and a Bullseye Power turbine housing for a total investment of $435. That turbo has now gone 10.39 and currently holds the record for the fastest HX40 on a DSM. It's your money; spend it however you want.

Ever considered an Evo III 16G? They're by far the most popular turbo out there because nothing spools as quickly on our cars while making 42 lb/min of peak airflow.

They can be found used for around $300; it's a Genuine Mitsubishi part, no Chinese garbage.

No I didn't see the link in post 3...I missed that one but I just read it...I don't expect you or anyone to sum everything up for me... I'm still doing research on everything I run across that does sound too good to be true. Yes I've considered other turbo's but all the setups I've found that are being used and for sell, the seller thinks it's made of gold and wants a left nut...but I'm still looking...Nothing is out of the question...but it has to be at the right price and and what i'm looking for...

So these Holset HX35/40 turbo's.....Found some on Ebay for $300 are trhese knock offs or the real deal...I am interested in these turbos...
