I know there's a lot of posts on this but I've been having idle issues every once in awhile it will read itself to 3k to 4k sometimes it will sit at about 2 and 1/2 and bounce between 2.5k to 2.7.

it never bugged itself out it's just idling really high. I need help figuring this out.

Have you verified that the throttle body is not getting stuck open? There is an adjustment on the intake manifold for the throttle cable, make sure there is a small amount of slack in the cable when closed.

You may also have a vacuum leak on the intake manifold somewhere.

What I would normally do is remove the intake from the throttle body. Check it out to make sure the valve closing all the way. Crank the car up and see how it's idling. Cover the throttle body with your hand. The motor should die quickly. If it continues to run or slowly dies out you have a vacuum leak. If it idles high still and dies when you cover the throttle body you have an issue with the idle valve.

Assuming this is your 97 GS

Tighten the intake, throttle body, and check and replace any and all vacuum lines that are questionable. In my opinion, that is all of them. These cars are old and the lines, although appear good, are still probably leaking from age and cracking. It isn't a lot of money and a maintenance thing. A spray can of carb spray can make it easier to locate any leaks as when you spray it in an area that is leaking, the rpm's will rise or fall noticeably.
