2G Idle and throttle body question.

I'm trying to figure out why my car wont idle correctly, Ive dont a 6bolt complete long block swap and it oscillates and wont got lower then 1500 rpms, in fact the biss screw makes no change to the engine rpms, only changes the speed of the oscillation.

The car i got the engine out of had a lot of stuff removed, so my question is on a 2g with all 6bolt stuff is it necessary to have coolant pass threw the throttle body to achieve proper idle speed ?

Im using dsmlink so my tps and and throttle position are set correctly, however i cant properly set my base timing because of the high idle and oscillation witch i cant fix for some damn reason.

Ive check everything else , no leaks anywhere . throttle cable is adjusted properly 1g idle switch is in place and properly adjusted.

Help !!

I sprayed soapy water over everything i found no idications of leaks.

Is it nessearry to run coolant threw the throttle body to achive proper idle? Because pervious owner had it bypassed and im running it the same way. But in a 2g instead of a 1g.

Also the egr is not functioning and unhooked but I have dsm link to so thats no prolbem there. I only have 1 vac line on the throttle bodie for the evap system to draw vapors form the gas tank/ threw charol canister, all other vac sources are eathier plugged with rubber caps or go to sensors or the bov and wastegate, valve cover breather is venting to small k/n style filter, pvc is going to its stock location.

No, not necessary to run coolant through the TB to make it idle properly.

Buy/make a boost leak tester, the soapy water trick never worked for me either.

If the TB still has the FIAV, you need coolant to the TB to make it close or you always have fast idle.

Steve way to chime in at the right time, I just woke up. So I'm not using the throttle body that came on the engine because the one I'm using has less miles.


So where is the FIAV on the TB and how do i check to see if its been removed on the original throttle body ?

You in the back of my mind I thought the FIAV was the cluprit, but my knowlage of it is limited.

its located underneath the the throttle body. You could always do the fiav mod. I had a high idle that never went away. After i did it i no longer longer have idle issues. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-intake-exhaust/320951-fiav-adjustment-disable.html

Wow that's a simple mod, Now if I had only known that when the engine was out . I have a feeling the guy that had the engine before me did this mod and doesn't remember or he would have told me ..

Yep you guys were right, idle prolbem fixed and idle set screw " Biss screw " now functions normally changing engine rpm's like normal.

Did my first full thorttle pull tonight now that its running normally, horsepower estimate on dsm link spiked at 444hp, im excited to see what a dyno tune street/dyno tune with a wide band is gonna net !!!!
