Ideas on trans condition

I am looking at an awd trans and transfer case but they have been sitting outside for 3 years. Any ideas on if it would be a mistake to purchase this. It was supposedly removed from a running vehicle that was wrecked and parted out. I am trying to do an awd swap and it's the only one available in my area.

First off this is a 2g trans? Were any or all of the holes blocked.? Hard to know whats inside without disassembly

Yes a 2g trans. I doubt it that anything was blocked off. I was gonna pull the drain on it to see if it had water in it when I went to pick it up. I'm getting the trans transfer case and all front axles, front cross member, rear thumb nail spoiler, small fmic all for 200

The case is probably worth 200 $. Rebuild it.

What do you think my chances are of being able to run it as is for a little while?

Hiw could anybody possibly ascertain that? It could be completely clean inside or look like it was at the bottom of the ocean . I can make no educated guess. You have a fifty fifty at best. Tear it down and you would know alot more.
