I have $3500 to get my GSX back up and running (I know I may need more). I have a Shep stage 3 with a welded center that needs repaired due to a PP failure. The speedo gear is stripped and the welded center has a chip on one of the teeth. The trans only had 2 weeks of service before the nasty happened.

Looks like the whole center diff would need replaced, because it is a spool, what is the cheapest I can get a 4 spider for? Buy a two and send it in for a 4 gear? Or bite the bullet, and buy a brand new 4 spider for a grand WTF

Oh, and I need a bell housing as well:ohdamn:

The center diff can be saved -- just debur the gear tooth that has the chip, and clean up the surface to remove the chip.

If you are going to change over to a 4-spider, don't cheap out and use a stock cross-shaft that is machined down to fit 4 spider gears. It is the most fragile part of the center diff, and you should definitely go with a better piece for the upgrade.

I forgot to mention that you better thoroughly inspect that input shaft if you had a pressure plate failure. Check it for runout with a dial indicator, and make sure it is perfectly straight still. As well, inspect the input shaft splines for twisting or wear.
