I have a 95 talon tsi awd and it has a bad passager wheel barring it has a lot of rust and I couldn't get the axle of the hub. I used a big hammer, axle, press, wd-40, torch and nothing has worked. So I have fwd spare part in the shead. I have a full knuckle for that side and I'm going to switch them out and just buy a new axle. The axle that it has on it has both torn boots. But I need to know part number for the passengers axle from autozone,O Reilly, napa because I need it in about two day and can't wait to be shipped. I been looking but don't know if it the right one.I have fwd axles but I read that it too short Thank you

Well, you are correct, FWD CV half shafts will not work on an AWD. Unfortunately, the part number will vary from the companies you listed because they all use different manufacturers. You should look at the description while you are searching. You should see something along the lines of:
  • Front right, AWD, manual/standard trans. (may say something about the ABS ring as well).
Additionally, you leave a tight time table even for an auto part store. They will likely have to order it as well.

The part is of a 99 Gst I have read that it is the same but will do more research on that. It's my daily and it might start raining soon so I won't be able to ride my motorcycle. Also are fwd and awd wheel barring the same?

The toughest axle I've ever dealt with finally popped using acetylene torch while impacting a large 3 jaw puller. Practically melted the bearring. Everything else failed including a huge shop press. On the opposite axle I didn't waste any time and cut the bearing off the axle. You could get a (disposable) 4" grinder from harbor freight for like $10 and a cut off wheel or two and you'll be good to go. Wear eye protection and don't go all the way through and cut your axle. The axle is worth saving. You could also mix and match your axle parts to get what you need.

So it's the knuckle that i have in the shead won't work? What part of the barring did u start cutting at?

Assuming the knuckles are OEM as equipped on your car from 1995, they will vary from the 99 GST knuckles. The thread @pauleyman linked to explains this. Basically, if you swap only one side (including both compression and lateral arms from GST as well), you may have issues with alignment. I would try to salvage the existing knuckle havng the axle removed. Pay someone if you need it done quickly.

It's been a while but I think I remember being able to remove the bearing and axle together from the knuckle by taking apart the axle at the boot and then pulling it out. Then just cut the layers of the hub until you get close to your axle..the grinder has saved me countless times..good luck! And sorry I take so long to respond..ya probably got it by now..

Dose any one know the length of the axles to buy them at the part store? They have a few different length I'm guessing fwd and awd

Don't you already have the axle? You could cut the bad hub off of it in like 10 minutes! Or measure it if you really need the exact length. ( the place you get them from labels them by length and not year make model?). You are correct that The AWD has different length axles than the FWD which is why you should order the axles for your specific car which is AWD. :ohdamn:

OP,
Save yourself the hassle, and just get one from RockAuto. It may likely be cheaper and you will know what you are getting.

  • CARDONE SELECT 663145
  • SURTRACK / TRAKMOTIVE MI8048
  • APWI MI8045A

Update ended up using torch and I compared the kuckles and they are different. Were can I buy lower control arm and curved one for my 95 because it is different that 96-99? Something like rock auto part number would be helpful and I'm on a budget also
