So I am doing a rebuild and in the process I am taking out the emissions crap. This leaves me with one anoying factor. The fuel tank vent line, i REALLY do not want my car to stick of fuel, anybody have any ideas of how to vent the fuel tank with out just letting it out.

Why not just leave your charcoal canister in place. It only weighs a few pounds and will ensure that your vehicle does not stink like gasoline. The couple of pounds you save don't gain you anything except a stinky car.

I am not really trying to save weight but rather clean up my engine bay a little. I guess I can relocate the canister to near the gas tank... But will the charcoal canister get rid of the smell or just collect it and then over time release it?

Taken from www.houston-dsm.org

"On a 1G there is one line from the tank to the charcoal canister. Another line from the canister to the MAS snorkel... and assorted vacuum lines which control the release of evaporated fuel from the canister into the intake tract for combustion."

Summed up, the charcoal canister collects the fumes from your gas tank & stores them while your car is not running. Once your vehicle has warmed up to correct operating temps, it releases the collected fumes to be burned in the combustion process.
