about 3 months ago my alternator went , i bought a new one at autozone bc of the lifetime warrenty.

the first one i installed was burning up belts left and right(6 gator belts total)

it also turned out my harmonic balencer was done for 2 , so i replaced that also.

it blew one or 2 more belts but for about the last month(2000 miles )

it hasnt blew any belts. but, i have gone through 2 more alternators the last one all the screws that hold it togather were falling out .

and the one in my car seems to have the same problem , i can already see one screw thats just haning on and ill know soon if anymore fell out.

what should i do ? im out of ideas....

my alternator tensioner is kinda tight but not extremly tight.....but if i put it any looser the friction of it slipping causes the alternator to heat up and burn my belt.

For starters: "STAY AWAY FROM AUTOCRAP!!!" Find a more respectable alternator shop for your exchange/repair situations.

After that all has been said: If you used a better ALT, and get it tightened up with the proper tension, these problems would disappear. For, it nonsense for you go be going through belts like that.

Are you running any voltage/amperage hogging equipment in that vehicle like gang banger wannabe sound equipment that really taxes out the alternators? For that really puts the load on the alternator and you really need tight belts for such applications.

Any and all of Autozones alts are subject to taking a dump at anytime. I am on my 4th in 6 months. My issue wasnt them falling apart but rather the voltage regulator taking the dump or another internal charging issue in the alt itself. I dont want to pay out the arse for another alt ATM so i just swap them out every time the poop out. All of 30 mins to drop, swap, and button it back up. I just drop it out the bottom with a little maneuvering it comes out between the wires and radiator without removing anything. I hated the first time i did the alt taking the ps pump off etc was a PITA. Never again. GL

yea i have a sub ...u used alot of uneeded words to describe a sub LOL.

All I heard was, "gang banger wannabe", not too bad. Anyways where's a good place to pick up alt at then? Advanced Auto Parts, O'Reilys, Automotive department at Wal-Mart :sneaky:

Reman'd parts from autozone are like playing the lottery, sometimes you win, most of the time you don't.
