Right now I run 23 psi springs stacked in my wastegate and my hall man MBC adds another 10 so I'm totaling 32-33 psi. I was wondering what everybody was doing to make more boost? I can't seem to find anywhere online where I can get stiffer springs for my wastegate. I know some guys are running 40+ psi and I'm just curious on how they are doing it. BTW I have a precision/ Tial 38mm wastegate. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Use a solenoid to supply boost pressure to the upper chamber of the wastegate which holds it completely shut until the desired boost level is achieved.

You can also run a boost only line to the top port, with a ball and spring mbc t'd off of it set to bleed off the boost holding it shut at the desired boost.

Well everything is functioning correctly and it's making the right amount of boost for what it's set up for. Really I was trying to see if there is a boost controller that can add more that 10 psi or a wasteget spring or spring combo that can do the same.

moststandard boost controllers won't do it on their own it's all in how you setup the lines to the top and bottom ports of your wastegate, google Tial wastegate setup high boost and there's a .pdf i have on my phone that shows where and how to runthe lines, where to put the bleeders and how to do itwith two manual boost controllers.

my profec never got past 27psi, i had to bleed off air to the bottomport to get 30-33 last time iwentthat high..now i have a solenoid as justing said that feeds air to the top wastegateport and the haltech controls duty cycle to set boost,I could easily make 40 on this setup with my 19psi spring

if you have a tial gate springs are for sale on their site

and to add to the one 2 posts up, if you run a line to the top port, make sure you still have one on the bottom port or it will boost as high as it can go LOL, nother tip, take the source for bottom port from manifold, and the one for top port from turbo comp housing since there's boost pressure drop between it and the manifold

Thanks so much bro! I'll give a shot first thing tomorrow. Today is family day so no car work:thumb:

Turboglenn I can't find that PDF anywhere online (maybe I'm searching incorrectly or havent had enough coffee;-), but if you have it available could you send it to me whenever it's convenient for you bro?

Using the top port allows you to run as much boost as the turbo can make.

I'll hook my phone up to PC now and get ot off the SD card and post it here for all to see and get, I spent hours searching for good info on wastegate setup and for some reason even though it's a tial document it's hard to find

i just looked and they only have the regular boost setup on their website even LOL

here's several pics on solenoids, profec, haltech solenoid install and both tial docs

high boost setup

This is what I need bro! Thank you so much.

I do have one more question. Do I need the solenoid or could I use two MBC? I ask because I have another MBC.

YOu can use two MBC"s or even one and then a T with a bleeder of about .020'' size, but two MBC's give more adjustment. RIght now i use mine in the config of the first haltech drawing (and riun and sell haltechs - but haven't sold one in a LONG time now with DSMlink V3 ouit as i even admit it's all 95% of DSM'ers need)

ANyway, I have my trbo housing tapped and a line from there to the solenoid "common" and the "normally open - NO" goes to the top WG port... that sameline has a T before the solenoid to the bottom port, and the normally closed hole becomes the vent when the solenboid is active letting pressure off the top port so the gate can open, I am running the colenoid at around 74% of it's duty cycle at 33hz and it makes 31-32psi there.. I have to dial it down to 64% as revs go up and more exhaust is made because it doesnt' read pressure to adjust it's movements (so you cna tailr how boost comes on for traction or other reasons) Where the profec reads boost and changes cycling of solenoids for regulation of boost based on what it sees.. i've got mine sitting in the toolbox (profec that is, might end up selling it here soon, i built a new solenoid box that actually lets it make over 30 on my setup pretty easy, but i like having it the way i do now)

I've been messing with these cars for 12-14 years, reading, searching, experimenting etc... so i have tons of pdf's and documents on things, i try and post them when people need them but there's over 9 gig's of info so to put itall out there would be insanely time consuming as well as server space gobbling LOL

Dude this is some great info. I never thought I'd be at this point in modding my car but I am so happy I am. I do feel like a noob all over again though, but with people like you on the site it will definitely help with the learning curve. Thanks again bro!

Ok, so I've added more springs to my wastegate ( enough for about 36 psi) plus im running my MBC (which raises boost 10 more psi) which should total 46 psi. For some reason it still wont make it past 36-38 psi. I spoke with Kevin at Jack's Transmission and he told me that being 6035 ft above seal evel effects how much the turbo can make. He's seen cases of people only being able to make 41 psi on ball bearing gt42r's. He also said that there was a thread on the subject here in Tuners. I've tried searching for it but am unable to find. Does anyone know of this thread or care to chime in on the subject? I find this interesting and would like to learn more.

Anyone?
