Yes i do know how to use the search button i just don't have to much time to sit their and look around, so my problem is, my axle doesn't want to go into the tranny the snap ring is the problem some people told me i need snap ring pliers , but on previous cars ive never needed them any tips or thoughts on how to get it in with out or would it be better and easier with the pliers, thanks in advance

IF the snap ring isn't damaged than put it in the transmission. Put a block of wood on the end of the axle and smack it in with a hammer.

Well i hit it pretty hard and broke where the nut goes so i had to go get another one . Ive tried to push it in while someone hits it and still nothing i tried to wiggle it in , i tried alot of different things and it still won't go in

Also, since you've made several attempts already, you may want to inspect the grooves on the trans side of the axle for deformity and correct any with a small straight file if necessary.

You can easily check the splines. Pop the clip off and see if the axle slides in. If it does than re-install the clip and install the axle.

Haven't I read in here that there are a couple different sizes shafts with different # of teeth and that major parts stores don't know the difference? I'm about to replace mine but I'm looking into this first.

Yes, for turbo axles. Non-turbo, 2.0L 1G axles are all the same for their respective sides.

To answer the other reference you made to this same situation in these threads: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/447180-axle-interchangeability.html and http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/drivetrain-tech/448091-quaife-driveshaft-shop-axle-doesnt-fit.html, the part numbers are MB297871 for the left and MB297872 for the right side. You can check NAPA's online interchange system to obtain any information about specifications you want and are likely to find anywhere.

Right Remanufactured Axle
Left Remanufactured Axle

i just put my new clutch and flywheel in today and had the same problem, my passenger side axle was being stubborn and wouldnt go into the tranny, i made shure it was lined up and slowly spun it as i tapped it with a hammer and it went right in.

Thanks. I'm not sure exactly where the confusion is but everything I've read on this has been confusing and it all started when I was shopping advance auto and one of their brands states awd AND fwd and it has a bad review by someone who ran into the teeth incompatibility thing so that's when I started double checking. But it sounds like maybe napa has it down a bit better than at least advance and that I need shafts with 25 teeth. I think I read people have had good experiences shopping axles at rockauto too. Thanks
