hey everyone so i have had my 95 gsx eclipse for a couple days its a fantastic car. but i think im having a blow out problem. i replace the spark plugs today and i have gapped them a couple of times once at 34 and then 29 and now there at 24..the car jerks when i reach 3k rpm ....could this possbly be a fuel pump problem???? if it helps im at 12lbs boost right now....let me know if u have questions :banghead:

im having same problem,so im thinking it could be bad gas in my fuel system or, even a bad fuel pump. my gas light will come on an off, an wont go below 1/4 tankline. would it be ok to run a walbro 255 on my stock turbo an stock injectors? i plan on upgrading to a 16g not for awile though dont so. thanks kyle

Sounds like the sending unit needs to be looked at. Yes, you can run a walbro 255 on stock turbo and injectors.

I'd love to hear the logic behind that.

Coppers may be "better" but they sure don't last longer.
Right, because longevity is what's on everyone's mind seeing as changing plugs in our cars can take up to six hours.

It's already been said that you can buy three or four sets of standard copper-core plugs for the same price as the Iridiums. Boost pressure effectively raises your compression ratio- higher compression makes it more difficult for a plug to fire properly. Copper is more conductive, and lessens the chance of spark blowout when you're running more boost or an upgraded turbo that generates more airflow.

There's the logic you're apparently missing.

To jusmx141,
I completely agree with you on a DSM, run coppers, it's at least as conductive as, if not more conductive than iridium, and it is proven. However, on my Stealth, longevity is a concern since it sometimes feels like it will take 6 hours to change the plugs. :banghead: Not to mention there are several gaskets I need to buy as well. Maybe I'm just lazy though. ROFL

Anyway, I think we may have figured out the major problem. We talked to the former owner of the car and found out that the fuel pump is a Walbro 255, on a stock FPR, which is almost assuredly overrunning the FPR, causing the car to run super rich and foul out the plugs. We had hoped the rich problem was the thermostat, which was replaced earlier this week, but it's still super rich, so we are going to test the fuel pressure tomorrow and most likely order an AFPR.

My questions are, what will be needed with the AFPR and where will be the cheapest to get one? I've looked at the FueLab ones from STM since I'm familiar with them in the Stealth world, but I don't know if I could find one or a kit for cheaper elsewhere.

We'll probably put some 7s in when we change the plugs once the fuel pressure is fixed. For now the car is stock tuning wise. Eventually we will put in ECMlink, but he has to save up for it.

So tonight a friend of mine suggested to check out my injectors and we replaced the 2 cylinder injector. Turns out I had a bad injector the car boosted great,no problems at all. One problem that did happen was that my oil dip stick popped up and oil went all over engine bay how do I prevent this from happening again ?

Replace the PCV valve (positive crankcase ventilation) on the backside of the valve cover facing the firewall. Also get an oem one from the dealership or from a supporting vendor on here such as jnz tuning or extremepsi, ect. Not an autozone or advance auto parts one.
