ok i decided to get my car back new oil pump is installed, now i still need a shortblock because i have a noticeable knock with noticeable power loss. driving home everything is fine knocking very low but i know its there well the oil light starts to flash again then when i hit the gas it goes away. So when i sit at a red light it comes on, so i turn around and tell the mechanic its still coming on, he tells me it will still come on because my crankcase is messed up and buying the shortblock will help all of that. So i took it to autozone because the check engine light always been on.

HERES THE CODES
P1390
P0442

should i buy this guys engine with transmission for 300.... and just drop it in there and call it a day

The reason why the oil light comes on at a stop light is because the main/rod bearings are gone (most likely from oil starvation or high revs). You will hear a TAP-TAP on startup because the bearings aren't lubed up enough, the oil has to build up the barrier between them and the crank. You're gonna see a rod hanging out the side of the block if you keep driving on it. Here are your options;

-Buy a new/rebuilt/used motor, install

-Buy a crankshaft, new bearings, thrust washers, headgasket, gaskets, rings, water pump, rebuild

-Throw some saw dust in the motor and drive it to a used car lot, trade it in.
(Personally I'm a fan of that last one)

DTC P1390 (Eclipse)

Timing Belt Skipped one tooth or more

The PCM uses voltage signals generated by the cam and crankshaft sensorsto determine engine synchronizatoin, if these signals become out of sync, this DTC is thrown.

Probable Causes:

1- Timing Belt Improperly Installed
2- Camshaft Position Sensor improperly installed
3- Camshaft Position Sensor connector improperly seated
4- Crankshaft Position Sendor connector improperly seated

Steps to resolve issue:

1- Check connectors A-81, A-04, A-106 and A-107
** if any are bad, fix them **

2- Check camshaft position sensor, replace if necessary

3- Check crankshaft position sensor, replace if necessary

4- Check timing belt, replace if necessary

DTC P0442

Evaporative Emission Small Leak Detected

The evap system is not sealing, often times just the gas cap is loose or damaged, also can be likely a vacuum line cracked. A visual inspection of all the hoses in the evap system including under the hood and around the gas tank should revela the problem. Check your gas cap first though.

Hope this info helps out.
