Heh, quick somebody start a new thread! BREAKING!! If You Hate Doing Automotive/Mechanical Work, Dont Buy A DSM! ;)

Well, to make a long story short with my car...

Bought it january 03', alternator belt breaks on the way home.... not a good start. OMG

1 month later the motor crankwalks. :(

3 months later I get a jdm 1g motor installed by a shop FULL of dumbasses... the car only runs for 2 weeks and blows and oil o-ring :thumbdown

4 months later I get a 1g cyclone motor put in (with my old intake), and alamo autosports (another shop full of dumbasses) fails to put on the timing belt I requested (not on reciept either... my dumbass fault for not looking!) and the timing belt BREAKS within 2 months! :barf:

Finally got the car back a couple of months ago, with new timing assembly, fresh new 1g head, waterpump, clutch and then this shit happens....

So yea... bad luck I guess it what you call that.. and a little poor judgement on my behalf. But hell ITS ONLY MONEY!!! :p

Honestly your car hasn't been that bad. All your problems (with the exception of clutch hydraulic system seals, alt belt, and timing belt) have been caused by inproper or poor fixes. Those parts are ment to wear out.

Rebuilding your slave should not be a problem to do yourself. I did mine in under 3 minutes...it just took 30 to bleed afterwords. If you need me to walk you through it I will.

Total time < 1 hour
Total parts < $20.00

why is this in problem diagnosis. Oh i know you want to hear that you have a problem. Its ok the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem ;) We all do thats why were here.

i take it youve been to rehab or a AA meeting??? :thumb:

I know the feeling. I have a love hate relationship with my car, I love it when its working and hate it when its being a PITA. Seriously I've wanted sell the car about 5 times since I got the car out from storage. I get pissed, want to sell it...post add's everywhere, then when its working I want to keep it, then when its being a PITA again I want to sell it again...went as far as putting an add out for it in the local Trader mag, then I realize how much I love the car and I decide to keep it. Then I realized how much debt I can pay off if I sell it, then I want to keep it again once I get a fresh coat of wax on her and she looks bling bling. It drives me and my girlfriend crazy sometimes.

Crap! That bites the big one! Sorry you had some misfortunes dealing with idiots... Some tewls will cost you lots of $$... Those jerkys sound like they didn't know what they were doing. Glad I have a DSM mechanic I can trust.

Right now, my DSM is my savior and the only car (out of 3) that consistently gets me where I need to go and that's why I love it! Good luck and sorry for the BS.

My dsm has been giving me problems ever since I bought her. Maybe it's time to trade her in for something more reliable, like maybe say an RSX-S???

Arent they one of the most reliable car manufacturers next to honda, toyota, lexus...??

Are the turbo DSM's really bad? I keep hearing about peopel saying that DSM's break alot?

RSX is nice, but I'd still rather have a GSX.

only people who have never felt a fast car judge a cars potential on its reliability. turbo a honda and see how long it lasts. anytime you make more power than stock things break.

My DSM is the only car I have ever owned, but It has had a total of probably 7 days of downtime it the ~20 months I have had it, 2 of which were spent waiting for a part to come, and nothing else. I think DSMs can be very reliable as long as you do everything right, and don't neglect any scheduled maintainance and such. I think most people just get a DSM with 70k miles on it, grab some cheap bolt ons, up the boost, and forget about maintainance. Hope this isn't the case with you, and I'm sorry your car is being so unreliable.

I dont expect my car to be reliable now with the cams, 50 trim, fmic, ect.. Thats part of modding. If I wanted a reliable daily driver I would have left it close to stock, or at least smaller mods. Just get a cheap backup car.
