jay-d, I was there, they just take some getting used to. They were being asses, because nobody can tell if you need to replace gaskets without looking. You won't need to automatically, you just have to look and see, that's all.

OK, quick story you let me know what i got on my hands.

drove around fine lastnight no problems whatsoever, got out, turbo timer did its thing just fine. now, this morning i get in to go to work, and i turn the key on, all the interior lights come on, safc clicks on. turn the key and i just get one click. and no cranky.

my alarm had enough juice to go nuts like noones busniness, and there were clicks coming from behind the dashboard too. very annoying.

tried turning the car over about 10 times and eventually the battery just died.

i hope its just the battery being dead, but that would probably be due to the alternator.

one thing tho, the other night it did the same thing, but eventually the car did start. but today there was no starting. any possible tips?
 
Check out the terminals on the battery for corrosion. Make sure all your grounds are clean and well grounded. If it still doesn't help, test the battery and alternator.
 
the terminals are tight as hell, do you think that could still be the problem, i know the battery is dead at this point, cause i cant even roll my damn windows up. :mad:

gotta be the alternator, GOD let it be the alternator. NO ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WANTED
 
its the alternator, i got a jump, disconnected the battery, and the car instantly died,
for you tho .MAKE SURE THE GROUNDS ARE GROUNDED!!! that is a killer
 
It is your ECU. Sorry for the bad news.

I have the same exact problem right now! I replaced my CAPS a month ago, when I first read that same article you have. I didnt appear to have any damage on my ECU board.

Well, this past week, its been giving me hell. Start, idles, then "click, click, click, click." Dies. AFter going through this a few times, finally there isnt enough fuel in your system to start the car. I usually let it rest about 10 minutes, and I'll hear a single "click" out of the complete silence. So, that is resetting the ECU I think. Start her up, and she runs like normal.

UP UNTIL today. Even that little 10 minute wait didnt work. I had to fight the ECU, by giving extra gas, while it restarted each click. Barely made it to work today, lets see if I make it home. Me and some of the guys (employees at Mitsu) are going to take the MUT out, and see if we pull any codes.

Your problem is DEFINITELY your ECU. Rare, rare, rare, rare chance its your fuel pump relay, but my money is on the ECU.

You can uninstall it, open it up, and check it. Rotten fish smell, etc. Mine had the faintest, barely noticeable smell of fish. I had the caps replaced by a TV repair shop, costed me $30 labor, $3 parts (of that website you have).

But that was $33 wasted. I have to buy a new ECU now. The place Im ordering mine from wants $425 for a refurbished one, and $295 to repair mine, if its repairable. They offer a 18 month full guarantee on both services, and that price includes shipping, and a two day turnaround.

You can do the CAP change, and see if it helps, but usually any leak, it starts messing with the traces on the board.

OK this is ridiculous, my trany has been pretty shitty since I got the car, and it has been leaking gear oil for quite some time. Doesn't really matter because I might drive the car twice a month. Anyway there is usually a small puddle under the car when parked.

I took the car down to the tint shop the other day and drove it home. Why is this puddle growing larger and larger under the car? Its freaking huge and I have not moved the car since Tuesday:mad: The SOB leaks right where the transmission meets the block. My only gripe is this damn transmission.

actually off boost highway mileage is pretty good. boost alot and you can hang it up

Looks are a matter of opinion. I think the wheels look good and offset the blue pretty nice. They are light, wide and I only paid 500 bucks for them new in the box what more could you ask for.

I love my car, I really do. The one thing I have an issue with is that it seems to know whenever I come into any kind of extra money. Call it good timing or a smart car, but, extra funds don't stay extra for long.
 
here is my list of things that have went wrong with my car
-had the car for almost a year and have only driven for about a month
-blown turbo(14b)bought a big 16g
-hole in #1 piston,bought 2gen pistons
-ecu burned out,bought used ecu
-alternater went out in front of a police station and i had expired everything and warrants
-wheel came off while driving on the freeway
-recieved 6 tickets in two days,thank god i didnt go to jail
-hole in radiator
-and as of 3 weeks ago i have rod knock

and to those who call bs dont all this is true...after all this u know what ...

I STILL LOVE MY DSM :dsm:
