Winnipeg,
I got a problem i need some help with quick. I am just finishing up my frank 4 install and I tapped the stock oil feed bigger to accomodate the ss line. anyways I am trying to pump out the metal shavings by getting someone to crank the car (no fuel or spark ofcourse) while i hold the oil feed hole with my finger to build up pressure. I cant get any oil to come out at all . Only small drops. I had it cranked about 4 times with 10 cranks each and nothing.

All i need is this oil feed and i am finished. Why is it not building pressure? I got plenty of oil in there and I even poured more in just before cranking it and still nothing.

This seems like a bad idea but i will throw it out ther anyways. Can I fire up the car for a sec, just a sec to get higher oil pressure to push the shavings out? I am thinking there is too much shavings in there and not enough pressure to get it out. Would it damage the turbo to run it dry for a sec? what if i poured some oil in there for that sec that should be ok right? I am getting some oil but just drops.

I did do alot of tapping to get the hole to accomodate the ss line so there could be lots of shavings in there.

Please help asap. thanks Axe

are you cranking the engine long enough to show pressure on the stock guage in the dash? sounds to me like you might not be cranking it long enough

the batt started to die I was cranking it so much. It almost seems like the passage is blocked so much with shavings and the the small amount of oil pressure the starter can make is not enough to unclog it

When you tapped the hole did you have any grease on the tap to catch the shavings. If you did there will be a very minimal amount of shavings in the hole. You can use a can of WD-40 with that little red hose attached to spray the hole out. Just make sure you have the hose all the way to the back of the hole before spraying so it will shoot the extra crap out instead of pushing it further in.

You won't get any pressure from cranking it, as you found out. I would do what nightspeed87 suggested, it's the only safe option.

I didn't tap the oil filter housing. I tapped the stock feed in the head, thats where the shavings are.

I have done tapping there before (with a different head) to helicoil stripped threads and I just had someone crank the engine as i held the feed with my finger and oil pressure built up and pushed all the shavings out.

I will try the wd40 thing and if that doesent work well i might go in the head and use air pressure to get it out. those seem like the best ways of doing it
