Hx35 setup opinions please.

Ok, so I am piecing together an 8 blade hx35 setup slowly but surely (For the not so near future). So far I have the turbo, proper oil feed/drainage and that's it. Im holding off on buying the other parts because I wanted some input from you all

My crossroads are as shown:

Choice 1: I can either buy the. 55 bep housing and run the wastegate off of the manifold, or the o2 housing (obviously ) so I would either end up buying a new manifold or o2 housing.

Or choice 2, I can keep the Holeset twin scroll housing, buy an open t3 manifold and have a guy I know make me an o2 housing with wastegate provision from the 5 bolt hotside to my downpipe.

Choice 3: Stock holeset housing, buy an open t3 manifold with wastegate provision, then have my dude make a new Vband downpipe, with the wastegate recirculating into the DP.

After typing this choice one seems about right, but the chance to have a custom setup with the twin scroll housing seems cool. Granted my manifold wont be TS....for now.

So I decided to go with the BEP .55 A/R turbine housing, but there is one hangup. My turbo seems to be too small for the housing. If someone could provide a short explanation on the sizes I would appreciate it. Do I need to run a 7 blade 35? The inlet for the BEP housing is about 1/4 inch larger compared to the holeset twin scroll.


"The 8blade hx35 has a 56mm compressor inducer. This is found on 1995-1998 cummins manual pickups. The compressor flows 52 lb/min according to the compressor map. The bolton BEP housing (0.55 a/r) is enough to push the limit of the compressor. There's several 500whp 8blade hx35 cars out there with the bolt on housing. It reaches 20+psi by 3500rpms in 3rd with 272 cams. Smaller cams would equal a faster spool speed in most cases."

According to this ^ the housing should work. Am I just missing something? Is this BEP housing for an hx40?

Hey, you've got the hx40 housing there most likely. The right housing should fit like a glove. They made the .55 housing for both the hx35 and hx40. I've got a holset 8 blade as well, im going the t3 route though so I don't have a BEP i can give you measurements off of though.
