How would you fix this? Timing belt cover gap.

Looks like a belt wore a large gouge into this thing. I was thinking about plastic welding it and getting some filler material w/ the backing rods.

Any suggestions? Gap is about 1/2".

Quick and dirty, aluminum tape.

Happens a lot. In the past I’ve shoo goo’d them with lasting results. If you paint the cover afterwards you can’t see the repair.

You can also do the plastic weld thing. Add metal staples if you like. Or don’t.
