How to tell what size my TD05H turbo is?

Hi!

I have a '98 Gs-t. The turbo that came with it is working great, but I will have to know what size the turbo is, to buy the correct performance parts for my output. :)

I have tried to search for a way to tell if I have a TD05H 16g small or big turbo. I can just tell that I have the double compressor fin's that the 16G have.

Is the turbo stamped with numbers on the outside that tell me what size compressor/ exhaust wheel I got? :) (Or other spec.)

Hoping for answers,

John

There will be a number on the housing... something like 49178-01 xx 0 If the xx is 47 it is an Evo3, if it's 42 then its a big 16g, if its 52 then its a small 16g

Thanks! :D

I will look into it. My car is parked in a garage at the moment.. Crankwalk..

Little OT: How can I get the turbo to exeed 15-16psi? A spring on the actuator arm on the wastegate? Have found little on that subject also..

I run on standard 98octane unleaded fuel here. (we have 95 an 98 octane unleaded)

Thanks.

I will call it the night today, I'll check in tomorrow.

you could use a manual or electric boost controller to get the boost up.
Ahh! I forgot to mention I got a mechanical boost controller. But It will not increase boost over 15-16psi. I have ordered a Evo O2 housing to reduce back-pressure.
I also got a new 2stage turboXS mechanical one that will be installed.. I hope there will be a difference on the new one. I will search this topic and find a suitable thread for this, sorry.

My numbers are: 49178-01 520 0

The 520 is stamped in, the rest is casted numbers. I guess this is the 52 then, and is a small 16g? :)

Actually this is backwards. 52 is big 16g and 42 is small. I know this because I'm standing here looking at both and the 42 is smaller.
Actually, you're 100% wrong.

So unless your "05200" turbo is machined to be something larger than it was when it came from Mitsubishi, you need to schedule an appointment with an eye doctor right away. ;)

i would count the blades, the numbers on a compressor cover don't exactly mean for sure it is what it's supposed to be. I had an evo X 16g wheel stuffed inside of a 14b compressor cover with a 16g hotside.
