Sup guys,

I have this nasty black sap stuff underneath both doors that tends to seep onto the door sills when its hot out. I'm sure some of you have this problem. I believe its some kind of insulator or something for the door panels. My question what is the most effective product I can use to remove this? I tried soap and water but it just kinda spreads it out more. Any ideas?

Thanks

It's probably the caulk around the outside of the dust guards inside your doors. The guard keeps dust and stuff out of the locking mechanism. Make sure that your dust guard isn't about to stop doing its job.

We have the same problems with 99 and 2k Avengers and the factory issued a technical service bull. and you may want to check with the local dealer as they are supposed to clean and repair any damaged for free, it is the undercoating they used on the inside of the door, and is really a big problem unless they use a spray aerosol remover to clean it all out, if not it will seep forever, the only other solution is to take the door panel off and seal the water drain slots on the bottom of the door(ok idea if you live in dry climate), by doing this if you get a lot of rain or moisture it will begin to rot out the door if you seal up the slots. I know this from first hand experience my 2k still seeps on really hot days, after 3 times cleaning, my dealership also replaced the sills and seatbelt that got the black goop on gratis....good luck

Googone works for me , u can also get a can of compressed air turn it upside down and it will let out a cold liquid that will freeze that gunk and u can remove it by hand

I just had a conversation yesterday with a friend working on his CRX, he's stripping his car for the track, and he was asking me where he can get dry ice at. I asked why, and he said that you tape a bag of that stuff around that tar in the doors, let it freeze, then get something light to tap the tar. He says the tar falls right off doing it that way with no residue left over...
