So i have been reading what people have been getting for MPG in their car and it seems no one has ever posted anything for increasing fuel efficiency.
I was wondering if these mods were possible to increase MPG

K&N filter

replace O2 sensor if bad

this may sound stupid but i knew someone who took all the stuff out of his car (just books and junk) and his MPG rased 3 for city and highway

Is it possible to turn down the turbo boost to get better gas milage when not racing or driving with a lead foot?

I just can't believe that this car gets bad gas milage. I know someone with a ford mustang with turbo 2.3 and he gets 28-30.
Why would the 2.0L get 20-23? Does the transmission take a lots of the power?
if anyone has more things to improve gas milage please list. I know this goes against all of the perfomance mods probably but just wondering if anyone has any hints
thanks

I have a 97 GSX and 2 tanks ago I drove casual, never got on it once. Got about 175 miles to that tank. Last tank, I had to get on it a couple times and I got about 215 miles to that tank. Both tanks were premium gas, and it's an automatic. Go figure that one out cuz I can't  Maybe I need a new o2 sensor. The only mods I have on my car is a K&N cone filter and new plugs and wires, which probably don't really make that much of a difference.

Edit: that's all city driving, no highway.

im drive in 5th as much as i can. hmm i probly step on it about 7 times a tank.. and i get 26-27 in town/highway.. but if it is all highway i am pushin 40mpg on cruise control.. turbos are amazing, power when ya want it :thumb: :laser:

40mpg my @ss

you must have a 1.8 liter eclipse then or a hybrid eclipse that you made or every thing is down hill. cruise will still spool the turboespecially on hills it will full boost.

i get 30mpg on a no humid day that is cool

other wise i get 22 to 25 on any other day

also outlaw campact fuel injector cleaner actually works pretty good i tried all the other brands and left this one to last just because it said compact on the bottle and had a pic of an import on it. but as much as i hate to say it, it worked good. the fluid is aqua in color and can be found at your local walmart

I get crap gas mileage because I drive with a heavy foot, and mostly in stop and go traffic. I actually am gettting the best gas mileage with resently installed 660's ,190f/p, and bigger turbo.... i figured these mods will kill mileage but with good tuning, im back up to around 21-22mpg.

~EDIT~ So i guess I would suggest an AFC/Logger or equivalant for tuning may help? It did for me :D
