Can somebody explain to me exactly how to do a filter/fluid change for my automatic transmission it's a 1991 automatic eclipse gsx, not sure how long ago the fluid was changed, pics and explanation would help alot thanks!

Thank you for bringing this post back from four years ago to add that. You've been promoted from being Captain Obvious to full Major.

Just wish it wasn't so true.......as wet and cold as it is around Portland this time of year, I would gladly pay the $60 that many "Trans Shops" advertise for a pan removal fluid change./

But with the intentional misuse of a screwdriver or hammer once the pan is off, the $60 "Special" could, and often does, turn into a VERY expensive repair :sosad:

Diamond SPF II is the Fluid to use. The procedure is no different than changing your oil really. I have even seen some with drain plugs, some without. Drop the pan, and scrape the gasket. Replace your magnets accordingly, along with cleaning the bottom of the pan. Change the filter, retorque everything to specs, then refil. And never use a screwdriver (even with a rag around the tip), a poly pry bar or a gasket scraper might do the trick, but its aluminum, so be very careful...

My bad......I did a search on how to change ATF on a Talon and this thread came up......and I made a comment. Nice how to link
