the other night i was doing a 4-5th pull and my knock CEL is set on 4 degrees... well at about 120 ish i notcied that my CEL was flashing faintly... then from 125 to about 140 it stayed on until i let off of it... im running about 22 psi on 93 octane btw... but anyways, i was wondering if i could just set my knock CEL to 5 degrees and whenever i see it flash i could know it was unsafe and just let off the throttle...

k so should i just turn the boost down a few psi? or is there any other way to stop the knock? i mean it pulls really strong on my 3rd gear pulls but sometimes at about 6k (not very often) it spudders a little bit.. oh and i was just messing around doing a 4-5th pull and i noticed this... do you think that maybe its just too cold outside now for 22 psi?

Less boost, less timing or richer air/fuel ratio's should reduce knock.

How much knock is too much? When you break something, thats too much ROFL

There's no real set answer, basically the lower the knock the better. Your probably not going to blow somthing up if you saw 5 deg of knock but if you are seeing that, you need to work on the tune. Personally I have my CEL to flash a 1deg & it rarely comes on but I'm running meth. Without meth I use to have it set a 3deg & under most conditions it wouldn't lite up.

Whats your air/fuel ratio & what amount of timing are you seeing? You may be able to pull a deg or two of timing in the problem area to help with the knock issue & still run the 22psi (that is of course that your not already doing something strange with the timing).

whats your AFR when you knock? if you tuned for 11 - 11.5 AFR in the summer and now that it is colder out you are gettting 11.5 - 12 AFR, it could just be that you need to add a little bit more fuel for the colder air.

I really hope those speed numbers are on a dyno...

What I've heard is any knock is too much knock as what you see on ECMLink isnt knock but degrees of timing being pulled from knock.
