I was datalogging my car yesterday and i was very dissapointed with the results.

to keep things short and since i haven't figured out how to export logs with mmcd, i'm getting a crap load of knock (as high as 44 at times) at 18psi and i have plenty of fuel (around .87-.95v at any given time)

i noticed that it would start knocking even before i would hit boost, while just cruising sometimes on the highway.

it has been extremely hot here lately....

turned the boost down thinking it would help but nothing. then it rained here last night, temperature dropped around 20 degrees, i logged again with MUCH better results. car pulled much better and highest knock count i saw was 5.

question is.. i'm not making that much power, so i shouldn't be heatsoaking the stock smic so badly. i get plenty of air flow to it, removed everything in front of it, including the fog light. i did remove that plastic that sits in front of it and i read somewhere that that decreases the airflow through the core..

time for a fmic already? any other thoughts?

thanks guys

the intercooler is heat soaked.......turbo cars hate hot and humid weather....A front mount will definatly help, but its still gonna be outside temp when its hot out.Thats just the weather for you.

yeah i pretty much figured that, and yesterday was terrible here... around 100 degrees and VERY humid. I hate it... car feels a lot slower.

My stock sidemount was almost too hot to touch even just from 20 minutes of no-boost cruising in 90-degree weather. 18psi on even a mildy-hot day is too much for it. But, you already know this now.

yeah same here, only my fmic is just about that hot. there really isnt that much of a difference between touching the inlet and outlet sides, no matter what, its still ####ing hot.

i sure in the hell dont hit 20psi in the daytime.

yes thanks, now i know... i knew we lost power when the temps went up but i didn't know it was this bad. i've been thinking about getting alcohol injection, i'm sure that would help some.

im running 20-21 psi on race gas on 14b and stock sidemount.... its funny, probably stupid but is doing nothing but knocking a bit up top. i got a spearco core and im making the short route piping. i shuold see a good bit of gain at that boost minus the stocker side mount.
