Ok so ive been thinking and reading alot about dsm's and how easy it is to make them fast. ive had four and all i feel ive over built for my goals.
I read in import tuner in a back issue that they put a fuel cut defender a intake and a fuel pump and got 290hp out of a stock dsm. So this got me thinking whats over built if im only looking for mid 12 consistant?
I have a equal flow header,gm maf and translator ,stage 1 trans from dogbox,front mount intercooler,2.5 intercooler piping, full 3inch exuasht with test pipe, a dejon intake,kn filter. I had a flashed ecu it went bad! I also have a air fuel controller by apexi and i just upgraded to a 60 a/r t4 from percison over built much? LOL

I'm far, far from a dsm guru but it sounds like you're on your way to mid 12's...ionno crank whatever boost controller you might splurge on above 20psi and go from there.
 
Thank you. Now, tell us EXACTLY what you want from your car. Other wise we'll just being buy stuff that you'll never use to it's full potential. Is all your after is a 12 second time slip for cheap?

Yea im pretty much just after a reliable mid 12 second car.
Nothing crazy!
And im on stock internals.
Can i do it on a 14b?
Cause my 16g is beat and i dont really want such a big tuebo as a t4.
And most important this is my daily driver so cant be killing it on boost...

Redfwd, my fwd is blue. I have two Mitsubishis that I drive back and forth to work everyday, that I also happen to know will be performance monsters when my work on them is done. But reliability is essential and can't be compromised. So I believe I can feel where you're coming from.

Let's look at what you've got:
A three inch maf and dejon inlet pipe to a 60trim t4 turbo squeezing out into 2.5" intercooler piping, more 2.5" pipe and throttle body (stock I assume?) and stock intake manifold and head to equal length exhaust manifold, full bodied 3" exhaust with test pipe, and a fuel controller with flashed ecu. With this a stage one dogbox tranny to help get the power to the ground. Definitely a solid start!

What times are you running now?
How much power are you putting on the street?
Have you had any reliability issues so far?
How does the car feel from the driver's seat when you're really putting the hammer down?

The answer to these questions will let you know if you've overbuilt - or underbuilt. You have a reasonable goal, and a lot of good parts, but it's trial and error.

I suggest you:
focus on fuel and tuning. I prefer mitsubishi turbos (14b, 16g's etc) but the precision you have will make plenty of power to go 12's.

You said flashed ecu...
first of all, is your ecu rebuilt? You know our boards are notorious for the leaky capacitors. If it's not, for reliability sake, do yourself a favor and have it rebuilt and upgraded with quality parts, including the eprom socket. And get a quailty datalogger that you feel comfortable with. If not you, someone you trust who's good with those types of things. That's the only way for you to know the finer details of what effect each change you make has on your goal. The win is in the details.

Is it Eprom?
Who flashed your chip and how?
How does it interact with the way you've programmed your fuel controller?
And what about fuel?
I didn't hear you say anything about your injectors, rails, lines or pump. With all of that air supply potential you've got, you're gonna need plenty of juice to take full advantage of it.

Go to the dyno. It lets you test your mods in a place where you're less likely to break stuff, and have to catch the bus. It also lets you tweak your tune - getting everything to work well together as a team.

You'll see those 12's before you know it!

p.s. - as a daily driver, it might be a good idea to get a well designed high-flow catalytic converter. The power loss has been proven to be negligible, escpecially with the proper tune, and it's just the right thing to do for the environment.

also make sure you stay religious about regular maintenance items - bearings, joints, fluids and seals (though often neglected items), play a major role in helping you squeeze every ounce of available power from your very capable Mitsubishi platform. It also helps prevent you from spending the "car show trip savings" on an unexpected emergency repair. So keep up the good work.

Well i have a awd now so forget my name being redfwdsm im not front wheel anymore.

My flashed ecu went bad so im runing a stocker for now.

I have a 14b and a 16g my 16 g is screwd so its either 14b or t4.

Yes my throttle body is stock as far as i know.

I can put on a high flow cat i have later.

the car felt great in the driver seat at first but right when i made the choice to go awd i was having problems with the car stumbleing over its self on accel but my ecu was bad like i said.

I have 550 rc injectors.

its not a eprom or socketed ecu.

I need to pay a few bills but within a few months i will buy a good logger.

I also have a walbro 255 fuel pump.

Im guna have alex at dogbox tune the car after i get it running the trans is out cause i broke a bolt off in the bell housing.

And i need to do my timing belt soon as for my head gasket i gota wait to get more money.

i also didnt mention i have a nos bottle and i was gunna get a front mount sprayer but im just gunna sell the bottle no need for juice.

I also have a egt gauge and boost and a/f, water temp and oil pressure gauges

So a 14b is enough to go 12's?

Nice and i wont get much lag due to the fact that its a small ass turbo should spool fast....
 
With your mods you should be able to hit 12s on a 14b, with a decent tune and 15-16psi you with good driving you'll be good.

Well i think im a ok driver im no john shepard but i can get through the gears fast enough and i was running 14 psi on my fwd and was beating amg mercadies on 37 alot and a super charged mustange i think he had a 8 pound wheel

Im not sure what time im running never made it to a track..

I also have no idea what kinda power im puting out i was hopeing for around 320 or 350 at the wheels.

As for reliablity issues ive had a ton of them but most of them where with the car it self not the motor i had electrical problems my breaks locked on me one time i did have oil leaks but fixed them it was a bad oil pan and return line.
but when i get on the car it picks up and moves with such verosity i couldnt belive it.
