Everybody on this site know i have a 420a motor, I want to keep it, rebuild it and mod on it.:D but i want to know like how much horsepower can go up to? i know it depend what parts on it but just take a guess.

I think you should get a running vehicle first and go from there...

Depends on what you do internally and to the head, then you need a way to tune (Megasquirt which if I remember you didn't even know what this was, yet your looking for power numbers already). Get your car running, learn to take care of it, then build your engine and make some power.. Okay!?!? OKAY!!!

Easily 1000hp I'd say. It's a very strong motor, along with the 4g6x's.

One thousand horsepower.

wrong, 1 million horse power:thumb:

OP, you will soon find that vague questions net you useless answers by many people on here. Its has to do with the broadness of your question. It all varies on condition of the engine to parts in the engine etc etc, there is no magic number that it will hold.

LOL i thought nobody gonna remmber me from last thread. But my bad, im in love with my dsm and i have a lot of pride that all.

megasquirt and everything being tuned perfect? Who knows check the dyno records. Google it, youtube it. There are 400whp 420AT's out there. Why not. Theyre great engines, and if built right should in theory make as much as any well built 2 litre engine thats boosted.
Just set aside 10k dollars so you dont get all sad panda when the bills for that HP start rollin in.. LOL

edit: i know its bench racing or whatever but i do believe that there is a certain rough estimate we can give someone. If all your parts are chosen right and everything is new and broken in and tuned right i would have to say that 350 - 400 hp IS attainable. Now go study and find out what parts you need. Iirc this site has a 420a section dude.... Try there

According to Allpar, a stock 420a motor is good to around 333 crank hp. When you start beefing it up, that can change in a hurry. Keep in mind that the 333 is like 400 for the 4g63....

It is a rough estimate. You may get a little more before it becomes a bomb and you may get a little less.

Well a flux capaciter should help you acheive your goals. The record n/t on the site is 222, held by a mod.

The old 420a record was 4 something. But I'm sure it's been beat by now.

Are you looking for damage to floorboard power? I need nos kinda thing?

Ugh, you need to learn about your car and learn how to take care of a car before you even think about modding it and getting power crazy.

You need to read, read some more, keep reading, and when you think you've read enough, read some more! That and wrenching is how you learn.

Posts about how much power this, what can i do that, etc etc will only hinder your advancement in furthering your own knowledge, you just need to take your time and research. Anything you can probably think of has been posted here, or is available here one way or another, and if it isn't you can bet it is on 2GNT.COM

If you aren't going to take your time and help yourself by educating yourself on cars, please sell it, buy a little toyota or honda for a daily driver and leave the repairs to a mechanic.

damn anubis, guys justg askin a noob question. Chill bro. He has a TON of learning to do and needs a TON of patience and money, money most of all. But its ok to give someone an idea of how far you can take these motors. Doesnt mean he'll ever do it, but just to humor him, whos he hurting? Besides eating up a bit of server storage LOL

Do you have any idea how many posts would be on this forum asking the same exact question if there wasn't a no bench racing rule? There's already a ton we dont need more. The reason you should do your own research and learn as you go is because otherwise you're going to get a list of parts handed to you and you're going to put them on via walkthroughs and you're not going to understand what's actually going on. This is how rice grinders are born.

In response to your question. It wont make nearly enough to ever justify the work involved. A 4g63t car doesn't even cost more than the 420A's these days if you buy them right. Just wait for some kid who vented his BOV and has four hoses missing on his intake tract to put his car up for sale on the cheap because it runs like ass and snag it from him. I've done that three times now.

Look at his post history and you will see why i said he needs to do some learning or sell it.

I agree with anubis.. the op makes threads every day about questions that had been answered 1 million times, without reasearching a bit..and his car isnt even running.. he threw a rod bearing because he "raced on a stock engine"
