my .02.. went down that route years back and was annoyingly loud, smelled up the cabin and always sounded like an exhaust leak. For a daily driver not a good mod (why you see alot of cheap used ones in the classifieds) :dsm:

I agree. I went with a punishment recirculated external wg housing.

i have mine dumping into the exhaust, with no muffler, and it's still loud as hell. i can't even imagine running dump to atmosphere. run it into the exhaust, your neighbors will thank you.

My friend had an open dump on his DSM and I thought it was the most badass sounding thing i'd ever heard, but after about 10 minutes of driving around town with the windows down it got pretty annoying and I started to get a headache.

I had one on my 16g 22lbs, i took it off within the week i hated it so much,

Same here, when I use to have a 16g I had it only for a week. I was worried about the same problem when I went with a hx40 and external wastegate. But it never opens unless I actually get on it where it opens at 28psi+

So I say its not as annoying on a larger turbo/higher boost application then a small fast spooling turbo.

What's with all the o2 dump hate? I've got one on a 16g and I love it. Scares the crap out of a lot of people. And what's this with people getting sick of it driving around? Mine only really opens up past 10+ psi and I'm not sure about any of you but I don't go driving around in boost all day, I like gas mileage. haha

I don't hate it at all, I think it sounds badass! To me it just got annoying after a while. I suppose you could drive without actually being in boost all day, but i'd rather have fun driving however I wanted instead of worrying about staying out of boost so i don't go deafROFL

Right, like everyone says, it stays open on a small turbo under 20 psi. Unless your shifting at like 2000 rpms, your building boost. And I dont know about your setup, but on my b16g setup, I was at full boost by 3100 rpms. In order for it to be quite, you need to only go partial throttle all the time and thats just as obnoxious as the sound imo. :idontknow:

I like mine recirculated. I want to get a open dump for when I go to Portland to scare all of those stupid bike riders.

i was kinda hoping it was a loud turbo spool noise not an exhaust noise...but o well im glad i didnt get one...i was just wondering wanting to know from people who acually had one before...thnks
