How durable are aluminum flywheels and stage 3 clutches for daily driving?

Having a 9 pound flywheel and a clutch with 6 plates on it sounds cool, but my neighbor who's a honda mechanic tells me that it's not a good idea to buy those since they're only intended for 2-3 races and then they need to be replaced...

Currently I'm running on everything stock with a stock turbo, and I'm just getting into cars and I want to know what you experienced guys think about it...

How do these performance parts stand up to stock stuff when we're talking about daily driving... Am I gonna have to worry about them within weeks, months, or years after installation?

I mean on one hand a stage 3 clutch has very little friction material when compared to factory, but then again it's supposed to be a lot more durable material... Can someone advise?

Also, what's with the aluminum flywheels? I understand aluminum is crap when compared to iron or steel (or maybe even titanium?)... Would aluminum flywheels really hold up?

Aluminum flywheels hold up just fine, they do have a steel friction surface for the clutch disc, and a steel ring gear is pressed on for the starter.

A puck clutch isn't the best idea for a daily driver if you want ease of use and good driveability. As for having to be replaced every 2-3 races, that's not true. They last just as long as any other clutch does, maybe longer. Take a look at ACT, Centerforce, and Competition Clutch. They seem to be the most preferred clutches for most dsm owners.

The clutch should hold up to daily driving just fine. One of the talons in our group is also running a stage 3 clutch and he put it in over a year ago and no problems yet. As for the aluminum flywheel, it just depends on if you bought a good one or not. That same talon has a light weight aluminum flywheel which was put in at the same time. We hasn't had any problem with his. One of the big reasons why they use aluminum is because it is light weight which is what a lot of people want when they swap flywheels. Go back to whom ever sold you the two products and ask them about the exact specs on you parts. That would a sure fire way to find out. Hope that helps.

I put in an act flywheel, and i loved it. I ran a six puck clutch for a while...but it just too much for me, so i switched to the street disk. When choosing a clutch factor in how much horsepower have/plan on having in the near future, is it going to be most track mostly street or a little of both. Once you get that planned out then the choice will be a little clearer
