I blew the tranny on my 99 GS-T,:sosad: so I thought while it was out I might as well replace the clutch and flywheel as well as put on a short shifter. My goals for this car are 450 - 500 hp so I need a clutch/flywheel that can take that kinda punishment, while being civil enough for daily driving. The more it shifts like oem the better, but I can stand a little (and I mean little) grabbeiness. Sssoooo my Q is: What clutch/flywheel will I need to meet those standers and horsepower goals? What short shifter should I use?

P.S. I dont race it (at a track) but maybe two times a week,:shhh: if that makes any difference.

Thanks,
Matt :dsm:

For your goals a 2600 would be the best bet to go with. And just get a light weight flywheel from act and you should be good. I woulnt even get a short shift, the throw in our cars is short enough.

The ACT 2600 is only rated for 400 ft/lbs of torque. I wouldnt throw that in a 500 whp car.

You may be able to get away with a ACT 2600 with a puck disc... but boy will that be fun to drive daily.

Ok, so lets say that drivabilty is still really important since it's a DD, but since I have to have a clutch and flywheel that can withstand 500hp, it's not quite as important as before, what are my options now?

I'd go with a 2600 or a 2900 at the most.. both very good sets.. would be more then what you need.. especially on a fwd car

As long as I use a full face plate the drivabilty should be close to OEM right? Can you get the ACT 2900 with a full face plate? Or would a 2600 with 6 puck work the same? How would it drive/shift with a 6 puck?
