short shifters

Has anyone done short shifters in their 1gs no matter the yr...
Well more importantly has anyone done them to a 90s tranny because
I am doing a 6 bolt engine swap from a 90s yr car, and ive read on vfaq that
the shifter mounting and shifter cabels are different from 90 opposed to 91-94
and my car is a 93 and my old tranny cannot be used. so therefore I have
to used ths 90s tranny, so I have to swap shifter and cabels unfortunantly
well besides that the main issue is that the 90s shifters are way longer than the 93 shifters
and Ive read of this magfus short shifter install on the vfaq but wondering havin
anyone with a 90s did a short shifter, or did they just cut theirs or what?
Or does anyone think Ill be able to retain my 90s shifter set up and just somehow
customize it with the 90s tranny? because I do not have the shifter cabel and shifter mounting to do this 90s tranny swap deal?

I know slowboy has a short shifter that they claim works on 90's with "minor modification". I'd shoot them an email and get some specifics.

has anyone witha 91-94 1g had to ever swap to a 90s tranny for some reason
( My reason being is because a 90s tranny happens to be the tranny I got with the 90s engine swap , and my old tranny is toasted basically, and a rebuild will cost too much. )

Since theres huge differences in the shifters in 90s , Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do, because the vfaq says If I keep my 93 shifter setup I wont be able to go into like 5th or R with it and I have to have a 90s shifter mounting plate and 90s shifter cabels which I dont have either? I dont know if fabrication could be possible with something like that.

Remove the shifter brackets on your old tranny and install them on the 90 tranny.

you sure they will bolt up? I believe the bolts are different if im not mistaken, I think they are angled different or something?

Yes they will fit. Alot of 90 guys ugrade to 91+ shifters which requires swapping everything from the base plate to the tranny mounts.

ok thanks you just made my life a whole lot easier, ill just swap the mounts out my 93 then. Now I just have to hope that this tranny isnt a grenaded tranny already because I dont know the condition of it, all I know it has stock clutch and flywheel which doesnt look too bad, and Im about to buy a lightwt flywheel off someone in the classified and run it with the stock clutch for a while till I get more money, and just hope it works out... thanks though.

Im even considering cutting my 93 shifter shorter by like a half and inch..
