How do you run race gas?

Yeah, I know. You stick it in the gas tank. But I mean, if I am to drive down to the track and put it in the tank at the track, what is a good mixture of 93 pump gas and race fuel, and what race fuel, etc.? i.e., 5 gallons 93 with 2 gallons 115, or whatever.

Never ran race gas before and have little knowledge of the stuff. Any help would be appreciated.
 
You can run it in any mix you want but it won't improve performance unless you are modded enough to need it. As a matter of fact it can acually slow you down. Also remember that 115 has lead in it that can clog you cat.
 
It's a function of the octane rating you want to end up. While it's not perfect, this is a good way to figure it out...

Take the number of gallons of your base gas, I'll use 91 as an example, and multiply the octane rating by the number of gallons. 10gal of 91 = 910.

Take the number of gallons of your race gas, I'll use 100 as an example, and do the same thing. 3gal of 100 = 300.

Add the two together. 910 + 300 = 1210.

Divide that total by the total number of gallons. 1210/13 = 93.08 octane for those 13gallons.

Remeber that your 2GNT low fuel light will come on when you hit 3 gallons remaining in the tank, so it's important to know just how much gas you actually have in there. Going from a low fuel light condition to a full tank with 3 gallons of 100 octane will put you closer to 92.69 octane. (13 gallons 91 + 3 gallons 100 = (1183+300)/16)

The thing is, what need do you have for the higher octane? Unless you're turbocharged, spraying or high-compression with a bunch of igntion advance, you won't benefit from going upwards. Just thought I would add that.

Man, neither you nor "loweperf" read my mods or even looked to see what kind of car I drive. I am not N/T, don't know where you got that one. I don't even have a cat, as listed in my mods, so it probably won't clog. And I have enough supporting mods to, and easily can, run 26 psi, in which case I should run race gas.

That being said, thank you "dr1665" for at least giving me an answer to the race gas question I originally had. For some reason you think I'm N/T, but none-the-less, you provided ample information for me.
 
Run your gas as low as you can, Then put in the race gas. I run 118octane at the track and 100 on the street usually, I got jugs of it from when the gas station computer messed up and were selling it at 2.50/gallon. :tease: Needless to say, That pump honestly got drained.. :boring:
 
Im scared to start my car with anything less than 92 octane in it, and i sure as hell wouldnt spray without 101+ octane on my high-comp pistons.
