** How do u tell if you have an Eprom ? **

Alright here goes... I bought a rolling chassie (95 TSi) and finnally got around to working on the car, got the motor and trans and all the stuff to do 6bolt swap. My buddy started talking about ECU's and it hit me, I wasent sure if i had an Eprom or not, guessing some did some didnt, anyway i take the cover off to look and nothing. So im pissed about not having one at all; but... my one friend happen to give me one the other day so Im hopeing its an Eprom. So what im wondering is how do u tell its a Eprom ? sorry if none of this makes any since or i spelled it the wrong way.

It has numbers on it as follows : MD312464
then below that : E2T61672 T 7529

And says Made in Japan


Any help appreciated

Another thing, if my TSi had an eprom and i put a non-eprom in it will it effect the car at all ?

I don't believe they are an EXACT swap. I think there is a few things needed to be done to get it to work properly.

As for effect the car....I don't think it will mess it up. I traded with a guy awhile ago and I see him driving around all the time. I do not have the eprom in my car, I sold it for some cash. So I can't tell you the differences.

If it had a Eprom i would just keep it in there becasue it is more valuable than a non Eprom.

Yes you can change it and there will be no problems as long as it is for a 2G turbo car.
