how to tell if u have ABS or NOT

i have a 94 AWD, currently there is no motor or transmission in the car and i did a search and found why abd is better then non or why non is better then abs, but how do i tell if i have ABS or not since it was an option. also i dont know of this goes for the 1gb's but if you have abs dosent that mean you dont have LSD? help me out here guys :thumb:
 
there should be a goldish box sitting below your battery. it's a good size and it has a lot of lines running out of it.
 
I was gonna say to start driving and slam on your brakes, but then I read you had no engine...

As posted before, its a box by your battery that should have 4 metal lines coming out the top and 4 metal lines coming out of the bottom.
 
Somewhat along the lines of this topic, Is it easy to completely remove ABS? I mean all the way down to the rotors. What is the difference in rotors from non-abs..?

its really pretty obvious if you have abs, theres that big block that gets in the way of doing everything in front of the battery, from pictures i've seen the diverter/blowoff valve is also in a different place then on cars w/o abs

I thought if you had a 90/91 and abs that you had an open rear diff? :confused:
 
1g ABS is horrible, not only does it take up a lot of engine space, but its not really an effective system. all you need to go from ABS to non-ABS is a set of non-ABS hardlines, and a non-ABS proportioning valve. I got everything from a junkyard for like $7. hardest part is manuvering the new hardlines into place.
 
The only difference between ABS and non-ABS rotors is magnetic pickups on the ABS rotor.

Non-ABS cars can use ABS or non-ABS rotors.
 
I didn't want to create a new thread so I'll ask my question in here.
My 97 GSX has ABS, however I took out the fuse and the bulb from the Instrument Cluster so I don't get the warning.
Here's my question however, when the ABS fuse was in, and whenever I pressed the brakes, the ABS would kick in pretty much instantly. It wouldn't even detect a lock or anything, just normal braking would cause the ABS to turn on.
I concluded that it must be a bad speed sensor. The rear left one looks rusted to say the least. Could it be the gyro sensor or something or would one of you lead to believe that it is indeed a faulty speed sensor
