im trying to take off faster from the the line for those honda guys who think they can beat out my dsm, HA!, but i still feel like i could take off faster. any tips?

If you are launching your gst, i would at least get some drag radials. Street tires will not stand up to any kind of launch with the stock open diff. Not to mention the possible damage to the transmission from the one wheel peel.

Electric launch aid. (I'd rather learn how to launch myself though) Somewhere on vfaq there's a post by Buschur about how to launch the AWD, and the FWD. Its a pretty funny post, it starts with the AWD launch....goes something like this.. "push in clutch at stop, in 1st gear. Bring RPM's up to about 4k. Let the clutch out fast while feeding in more power"
Then he goes on to explain the FWD launch, which takes about a page and a half, and is very detailed and descriptive...I'll try to find it.

found it

Sorry not trying to be a dick but a lot of new people join and create threads like these to get their post count up. If you didn't know about the hangout section then no harm done. A moderator will switch it into the hangout for you soon enough.

Not trying to be a dick, but it seems a lot of proven members hang out in the newbies forum just so's they can act cocky and show off their "knowledge" by adding discouraging remarks that don't help anybody. Respectfully, if it doesn't float your boat, and you don't want to help, ignore it and move on, there's no need to try and discourage newbies.

Honestly it depends on whats done to your car how your going to launch. As stated before being all stock it seems and FWD I wouldnt be launching to hard unless you want to be fixing things all the time. Just words of wisdom not to act cocky but due to i learned the hard way my self LOL.

Eventually im sure you will do what i decided to do go AWD now where the GST's have a nice advantage is from a role thats where they are fun :)

Oh the dsm FWD's are good for more than that....try about 300lbs lighter. Check out the serious drag racing threads on here....the 14b drag record thread is a good starter, to see what those guy's think about the FWD.

OH theres nothing wrong with them LOL I know they are fast as hell dont get my wrong but I just think in my personal opinion the AWD are so much more fun and from a dig pull harder. Of course ive not been around to many heavily built FWD DSM's though.

Im pretty sure I don't hang out in the newbie forum, it shows up on the main page and I click on it. And I show off my knowledge by saying that it's in the wrong section?

And if proven members didn't check the newbie section out, then how would they ever get any good information?

Your still a n00b....... And its because people like you would keep making stupid threads asking the same thing over and over again until it gets answered..

The smoothing shifting thread yea i agree that should be in the hangout forum. This thread Is useful to some of the other noobs im sure. If this was a legit questions it keeps us from having to answer an ok i F&^$#% S*&# up from doing a hard launch with a stock drive train stock motor and now i need to know how to fix it thread. Thats where this would be useful to some noobs. Yes on the other hand I agree it is rather annoying. Can we all just get along though LOL :)

Preload the drive train, that's the safest way to launch your car. Push the clutch down, put the car in first, pull up the e-brake and hold it up with your right hand. Next, rev the car to your desired launch rpm (you'll need to determine what is best based on your mods, track conditions, etc.) then slowly release the clutch just until you feel it begin to grab (where the car would start to move forward if the e-brake weren't engaged). When you launch, just release the e-brake and slip the clutch.

HAHAHA. Guess what genius?! Us "noobs" don't have any control over what our status is on here. Somebody else moves us into the "proven member" category, not us.
