I have a back-up already on SD card and use it often since every time the battery on palm pilot dies I have to re-install. The question is how do I make another back-up copy from SD card? I tried plugging it into card reader and copied MMCD program into my computer but when I put another blank SD card into reader to transfer it back again palm pilot doesn't recognize program

I think you have to reinstall because it modifies the Palm-s internal program database when you do so. I'm getting off mmcd this season for link; its time for me to move on, partly because of reasons such as this (though, small part overall)

Ya, The Palm is always modifying the database that is why you do the hotsync to keep a backup of everything an the database.

Just run the Program from an Emulator on a Small Netbook instead or laptop if you need to log. No more losing you data :)

Just need a USB to RS232 converter for that, and you have to get the correct one because of the odd bitrate the ECU uses. Not all work, do some research on which ones if you choose to go that route.

That really only applies to V2 Dsmlink... No need to drop $50 on say a Keyspan adapter. Besides the fact the only reason you would need to use a Serial adapter would be if you are reusing the Serial cable you used for the palm.

Nothing really has a Physical Db9 Com port anymore it's best to just do strait USB to Rs232 and not mess around with null modem and usb to serial adapters.

Anyway,
From my experience anything with a FTDI chipset will work with other software.

I don't think I got across what I need help with.

I have a palm pilot and when battery dies I have to take my SD card with back-up MMCD on it and install in pilot to reload program. Now, I wanted to make a copy from SD card (back-up program) onto another SD card so I'll have 2 back-ups. So I plugged the SD card into a card reader on my computer and transferred the data into computer. I then removed SD card from card reader and replaced with another blank SD card so I could transfer MMCD program from computer onto that. The problem is no matter how many times I tried the 2nd SD card is not recognized on palm. The original SD card is 16 mb and the one I'm trying to tranfer to is 4 gb but not sure if that should make any difference.
