No backlight as it is an L.E.D. gauge.

Ok, I've looked on VFAQ on how to install and A/F gauge and I just can't seem to figure it out. I know that the guy did his install with the O2 sensor wire under his dash in his 1G but I just can't seem to find mine in my 2G. I'm not even going to get into the soldering wires the other guy talked about. If anyone has any input on these, please help me. I'd really like to get my gauge working.

P.S. I'm looking underneath the passenger side. Am I on the wrong side?

P.S.S. Also the gauge is an Autometer: Cobolt

Just splice into the white o2 wire goin into the ECU. There are a few white ones so make sure its the right one.

I'll be the one to judge whether or not it helps me.

I can tell you right now it wont help at all. The pissed off Talondude said it best, is just a blinky light show, nothing more. If it was a wideband then I say you have a nice part, however the part you bought I would sell and use the 45.00 or so dollars and buy soemthing else.

They are right it is a light show i have one and it does no good for me but it looks cool if i were to start over from scratch on my car i would just go with the wideband i was a cheep ass when i bought it but o well they look cool if you can sell it go for it and save alittle more and buy the wideband i really like mine.

OR, if you're trying to co-ordinate your guages, as some people do (like me). Get the PLX wideband and the connector that'll change the signal to the AutoMeter guage so it's NOT just a light show. It's still not AS accurate as the digital display, but at least you'll somewhat know if you, say, go lean at WOT all the time. $35 from FIC's websight. They're out right now, but try MachV also. It may be excessive, as the wideband has it's own display, but if you're going for a look AND performance data, that's one way to go. :thumb:

Since the topic has come up, I am looking at a modded Autometer A/F gauge. My vehicle is stock at this point but I am putting a 1G BoV and a MBC on it. I guess I just wanted a bit of a safety net as I begin adding parts. Any thoughts on these gauges? Check the following link out and let me know.

That will be even more usless, because it wont even give you the light show. It has nothing to do with the gauge itself it has to do with the stock O2 sensor. They are used or drivability not tunning. They are a narrow band sensor and are not accurate at all.

If you truly want tune with an A/F gauge pony up the money and get a wideband.

Right on and thanks for the input.

they're completely useless. They told me I had boost leaks (running way way way rich). They're more or less useless but it's helped me as far as that goes.

i just bought mine to fill up the third empty pod :D its worthless but girls like the light show

Well I've got DSMLink on the way so I'll compare the two just to see how useless it is. If it truly doesn't work to my desires I will sell it for something more useful. And hey, I like fireworks anyway.LOL Thanks for the info guys.

What are you going to compare it to? DSMLink will use the same O2 sensor so I can tell you they will read the same unless you are using a wideband. That same info will just as useless on Link as it is on the gauge. You keep saying to your desires, what are those desires? We aren't making this up. To try and tune by the stock O2 sensor is asking for a new new motor. Your money your call.
