How do I install a boost gauge [gage, guage] on a 1g, 2g? [ merged ]

i know i could just do that. but mine has to be connected to a dimmer. or id prefer it be connected to one. in all diagrams in talks about green/white being power but im confused by where the black/yellow wire connects.

Just showing you my install with my boost gauge. It will also show where to tee it off also.
Tell me what you think.

Thats what i think:

You deff nedd to hide that vac line, that is laying on your floormat.make sure its not kinked, because it could cause you various problems......And the hook up is good.....:thumb:

Yea, I will deff make the line shorter. I had most of the line hiding like behind the radio (cant explain very good). I guess it came back out. But thanks everybody for the reply's. Im gonna go back out in a second to fix that line. Only cost me $30 for the boost gauge, the rubber line, T-fittings, and zip ties. Boost gauge came with a line but it was pretty much junk it seemed like. There was no chance of me getting it straight so I junked that line and bought a real one.

I might since it dont look bad at all and it was easy to do. I was going to buy a pillar but I want to keep it looking stock =D LOL. But thats kind of hard to do that out here in anderson, Indiana. Alot of people already know what the car is and plus you can hear the turbo and bov =D. So I might put more gauges there but im not for sure yet. It's not a bad place for them though.

Looks good! I have my 3 in a similar place, just below the radio. Fits like a glove, but not too practical to look at while driving, luckily 2 of my gauges are useless :D

I always look down while I'm driving, so this is great!!!

;)

With all the 2g mounting options that put a gauge where you can actually see it, I can't see the benefits of this mounting point.

I actually think that looks terrible and cheap. It definitely doesn't look like it belongs there.WTF

I would have to agree with both. Even a single gauge pod "hacked-in" would be a better location site-wise, for a few dollars more you can get a pillar replacement that will make it look factory.

Yea now that you guys mention it, as far as visibility, its not the best, nor is it close to being so.

I was really contemplating getting this DIN pod from glowshift

its the cleaner way of what the OP was trying to do I guess heh :p

It angles towards the driver side (or passenger if you flip it around) which helps for visibility, but still annoyingly akward to look down esp. if they are VITAL gauges.

Boost should be seen as you drive IMO, esp when going WOT.

This isn't as bad as those people who put the gauge in the cig lighter or convert the cup holder or ash tray into a pod and put their boost gauges there ;)

Personally I like the cluster bezels with two gauge locations, one in either corner - ebay under $20
That lower din I use as a pocket to hide my safc so no one can see it when I get out of the car

Yes I know it looks cheap. Its just a temperary spot for now. I'm having hard times with money and everything at the moment. Plan to get the pillar whenever I can start spending money on my car. Will change the boost gauge also, autometer or glowshift. Not sure yet. As of viewing the gauge, I actually only looked at it for maybe the first week. I dont really even pay attention to it anymore. But thanks for your guys' thoughts. Good and the bads, I like to see what people think.

Whenever you have an opportunity to get one, Slowboy Racing makes a very nice insert bezel - top is radio, 3 gauge openings down below it. It looks very clean and is a very nice alternative to a pocket or blank below the radio :D
