How do i get this off?

its the torque converter and behind that is the flexplate. this may be a 2 person job now since the motor is out of the vehicle. You will need to either get a tool to hold the ring gear on the flexplate to hold it in place and put a wrench on the bolts that hold the converter to the flexplate . These bolts should be visable from the backside of the flywheel, you will have to rotate the flywheel to get all 4 bolts out. Another way to remove it would be to have someone hold a breaker bar on the crank pulley bolt while you loosen the bolts that hold the torque converter in place.
The special tool to hold the ring gear is considered a flywheel/flexplate wrench. You may be able to get one from napa or carquest.

That would be your torque converter.
You simply take out the little bolts holding it on.
If I remember right they are between the flywheel and the block.
Be carefull, it's full of trans fluid and ALOT heavier than it looks.
^^He beat me to it.

When you remove the torque converter MAKE SURE you have the center opening TIPPED AWAY and UPWARDS or you will take a bath in about 4+ quarts of tranny fluid... been there done that.

hold a breaker bar on the crank pulley bolt while you loosen the bolts that hold the torque converter in place is about the easiest way i think

Please make sure that when you reassemble the car you put the torque converter in the trans first and make sure it fully engages with the pump. if not you will surely ruin your trans pump. It should explain this process in any worthwhile service manual.
