how can i tell if this turbos ball bearing

ok this guy has a garrett turbo on craigs list i think its a to4 for 500$ it has been used but i jst want to know if i go look at it how can i tell if its ball, or journal bearings thanks

Give the wheel a spin. If it spins for more than 2 seconds, chances are it's a ball bearing. Check for in and out shaft play while you're there.

For $500 its more then likely a non BB unit. But yes, if you have a garrett turbo in the upright position & its a BB CHRA, give the compressor wheel a spin & it should continue to spin for several seconds. You should also be able to blow on the compressor wheel & get it to spin if its BB.
