How can I tell if my BOV is leaking?

Alright I did search and everyone's solution is the get a 1g bov, but I have a 1g bov. What happens is it won't leak idle, which it shouldn't, but as soon as I open the throttle a little bit the BOV starts leaking air. Should I do the crush mod, or should I get a new one?

weird...they are usually very durable. Is this a recent problem? What have you done recently that could possibly affect this? Usually the 1g BOV are pretty easy to come by but I would test it with a known good one and make that determination then. Good luck

I don't know how recent, I haven't owned the car for a month. But like I said, if I stand outside the car and pull the throttle, even at an eighth way open LOL, air will start coming out of the BOV. Also, when I'm driving at low RPM's it has a real high pitch squeal coming from it.

Also, the car is running a 3" GM MAF, so it can be vented to the atmosphere.

Another thing that I don't understand, I'm obviously still a newb at turbo's, but if I had a bad leak wouldn't my AFR's be really bad? If I do a 3rd gear pull my AFR is like 11 or 12. But when I'm deceleration, the AFR gauge will max out in the red, and go to three dashes - - - on the gauge. Is this normal? As soon as I get back on the gas the AFR go to 13 or 14 just cruising.

It sounds like when you are giving it throttle it is pulling more vacuum therefore opening. I would try crushing it, that is really the best thing to do a 1g with out spending any cash. However DEJON tool stop leak kits are very handy and is really the best the thing to do so it doesn't limit valve flow. Up to you, I have ran a crushed one no problems so have many others. If you want more noises get any after market BOV except the HKS SS because of it's lame pull type diaghram.

I dont care about the noise, I just want to know if it supposed to leak while driving normally or if that is a problem? Obviously it shouldn't leak while under boost but I have read different posts where it is normal for it to leak at idle.
