So I recently repaired my engine cooling fan (it was the switch) and now I'd like to hot wire the A/C fan to the cooling fan so when it turns on the A/C fan turns on as well. I know theres an easy way to do this without re-wiring a bunch of stuff that I don't want to touch. So if anyone has any ideas feel free to post.

I need help on this.

ok...you will have to find the power wire that powers the fans...you will have to splice into the power wire and set up a togel switch to over ride the system....but remember it is up to you to flip the switch on for the fans to work...if you forget and the motor over heats this site is not liable for your mistake.you can do it but at your own risk.I did it and it worked for me but thats me.If you want more advise let me know.

Remove the 5 pin "condenser fan motor high-low change-over relay" (A-17X) and jumper pin 1 (blue wire on it) to pin 4 (blue/white wire on it). You can then remove the 4 pin "condenser fan motor relay" (A-18X) if you wish (don't have to however).

VFAQ link

I did this mod last fall when I installed my slim-line fan. Follow the vfaq and the schematics on it, as well as the fine advice above and you should be golden. Note: The bottom diagram is about the simplest way to picture how the wires go. You could do the whole thing just by looking at that one picture, but instructions help sometimes. :)

Well my question is how do I wire so that when the ECU tells the main engine fan to come on, the A/C fan does too. Step 5 in the procedure might be the solution but I dont know. I dont want to have to install a switch unless I have too.

Step 5: "In the holder for the engine fan relay, insert a 16 gage wire into the second jack from the top. Connect the other end of that wire to the same jack on the holder for the AC fan relay. See diagram below. This wire connects the two fans so that they always operate together as a pair, both ON or both OFF. If you omit this entire step, you'll have control over the AC fan only."

I wonder if having these two fans on the normal relay, where the ECU turns them on, will blow a fuse..?

Nope, won't blow a fuse unless you have an aftermarket fan that's drawing too much power. You could just connect those two relays with that step and it should work fine. The ECU will turn on both fans at the same time, either when the AC is on or when the radiator fan turns on normally.

Hey I just discovered some what of a problem. I realized this VFaq that was written to short the two fans together and run a switch to the inside of the vehicle is for 2G's only. My relays are a bit of a mystery to me, when I take the cover off of the fuses/relays under the hood its a bit of a mess. Theres 1 cover with 4 prongs which controls the enigne cooling fan. Then theres a whole bunch of other relays around this, all 4 prong, and they all have weird names like ALT. and BAT. etc...

Now heres the really messed up part. The other day when I was trying to figure out if my engine cooling fan was out I bridged two of the four prongs together (as directed by Hanes manual) and "volla" the fan spins to life. Today I just tried to bridge them together again and, your not gonna believe this, BOTH the A/C fan AND the cooling fan come to life. Im like WTF!

So whats going on here, which prong is for what relay for what fan... man im confused

Sorry, my bad. Didn't look to see you had a 1g.

Here is the vfaq for 1g's. It looks to be even easier than the 2g one. It still needs a switch, but you can just wire one in and place it under the dash or somewhere out of sight if you want.

Well last night I attempted to hook up a little make-shift wiring job to the relay system (so that both fans come on instead of just one). At first the system worked ok, albiet strange. When the key was out of the ignition the fans would stay off, but then when I put the key in the ignition, both the fans would come on and stay on all the time regardless of engine temp. I thought it was going to be ok until I drove over the my girlfriends house and turned my car off. I walked about 10 feet towards the house and the fans turn on again (the key is in my pocket). I'm thinkin what the hell...?

I thought about it some more and I believe I connected the part of the wiring that is supposed to have the switch on it, you know, terminals 1 and 3. I think instead of dong that I need to connect the other wire, the one that goes from the A/C fan relay to the cooling fan relay... am I correct?
