This topic has been beat to death and I search but am making my own thread for re-assurance.

I have two 12" fans. I believe they are spal. They have two wires. Well I have a clip matched to that that has two wires coming out of it. One would be the ground I am assuming and the other goes to a 20amp fuse and has another wire coming out the fuse which is they positive.

Thing is I don't want to solder the wires together in case I need to take them out and don't want to cut and re-wire.

What I would like to do is take the stock dsm plug and cut the spal connector off. Solder the stock dsm plug on to the spal's and use the stock connections. Now If I wire both into the passenger side will I blow the stock fuse.

Would this route be easier or should I just wire the fans to the battery/switch combo.

well, If your dsm fan plug is working ok, then I guess there's no problem in switching and connecting them. My plug worked sometimes and others it didn't, that's why I did the switch thing on mine, and now it work great. I can turn them on or off when the engine need it. I also used a fuse in the positive cable, I think it was a 25 amp just for safety.

so was it a wire from the battery> switch > 20 amp fuse > fan. then just ground the other wire.

I just cut the factory harness off my old fans and soldered that onto the new fans harness. It works great. I also didn't use any inline fuses for the installation. But, you got a good point casper_talon.

I did it the other way, the positive wire from the fan to --> in-wire fuse --> to the pos. baterry terminal. And the negative wire from the fan to --> the switch inside the car, and the other wire from the switch to--> a ground bolt. Or you can tap the pos. wire from the fan to --> a/the ign.+ wire for the car. This way, when you put the key in ign. right before start( cranking) the fans will come on and stay on until you turn off the car. Hope this is not too confusing and that it can help you!
