I have a stock 6 bolt in my 90 TSI AWD and was just curious as to how much horsepower the internals can handle, rods, pistons, crank, all that good stuff. Thanks guys.

In order to tell you a more accurate figure, you should tell us the mileage on your engine. In addition, the condition will effect this. If your bottom end already has excess clearence, that would effect it quite big. But anyhow, 4g63s have been able to put out over 400hp in good condition with proper support mods.

The 6 bolt block is very stout. Out of a stock block, most people have a general agreement that the 6 bolt rods can handle up to 500 horsepower. The low compression 7.8 pistons are usually swapped out for 8.5 2g pistons or aftermarket forged. they should handle up to 400 i think.
The crank has gone with people to the 9 second timeslips and more ! :dsm:
