i found this Holset im thinking about buying but i want to see if anyone can tell which Holset it is Holset turbocharger. it looks similar in that it has a v-band on the compressor housing, but other WH1C's i have seen had a different compressor housing. i plan to looking at it tonight so if there is a number or something that would signify which it is let me know and i will check.

I'm thinking that it may be an Ebay copy. True Holsets have the word "Holset" cast on the compressor cover. Also, the ID tag is missing and there appears to be no mounting holes for it either, which may mean that it never had one in the first place, something that Holset puts on the turbo from the factory. It also doesn't appear to have the MWE webbing or groove, which may make it a small H1C, but then it won't bolt in the BEP housing since it uses a different turbine. And since the price is $300, I'd be a little leary about it. I just picked one up for a hair over $200 and all the others I've seen have been below $250. I'd ask the seller for some close up shots of the CHRA and turbine housing for casting/part/identifying numbers before you buy it.

Looks like a baby h1c. Not worth $300 at all IMO.

That's right. You'll have the same spool speed as the big h1c but with MUCH less flow. 30psi on a diesel at 1000rpms is like 15psi on a 4 cylinder gasser at 3400rpms.

Keep looking. You want an h1c with the MWE webbing in it. The true WH1C has the webbing and the actual groove cut out for it. t's not needed. My big h1c does not surge with a 2.0l at high boost early in the rpm range.
