Well I am chilling in Iraq right now. This place sucks but it lets me think alot about stuff I want to try with my car. Right now I have a 50 trim from xs power on there. It does pretty good but I know it will fail soon. The holset is a great option for cheap reliable power. I have two T-3 exhaust housings sitting in my storage area. They are 63 ar which is where I want to be. They have a 6 bolt flange to connect to the turbo. Looks like the BEP housing. Do you think this will bolt up to the holset housing? If so it would make swaping out the turbos much easier. I wouldn't have to fab up a new downpipe or any other stuff.

Is the mating surface from the exhaust housing to the turbo universal for T-3 and T-4 turbos? I have always wondered this.

Thanks,
Sam

It will depend on the turbine wheel as well as how the housing mates to the center section. Why not just use a stock T3 housing that the Holset comes with?

Two reasons. I think the ar on the stock hx-35 is bigger. Also I have a down pipe that fits the 5 bolt flange that is on my t3 housing.

If i was home I could just buy a holset turbo and try this out. I was just wondering if anybody knows for sure if it will or wont work.

To clarify, you're trying to bolt up a T3 housing from a Garrett turbo to a Holset turbo? If so, it may bolt on but the contours of the turbine wheels are different so it wouldn't function correctly. If the housing is machined for a wheel that's smaller than the HX35's, then you could theoretically have it machined to fit, but it might cost more than it's worth when you could just get a proper Holset T3 housing or a BEP .55 or .70 housing with T3 in/out.

The BEP Housing is an A/R .50 to keep the spool up realatively low approx 4200. The turbo usually comes with a t-3 twin inlet (A/R .63) from DODGE. If you wanted to stay with the t-3 all you need do is purchase the t3 manifold. And have a DP made to fit.
