heres whats going on:car drives fine, i stop at a stop light and the idle slowly goes down until the car is around 350-400 rpms. basically running like shit...i change from drive to neutral, rpms jump back up to right under 1k and idles perfectly...WTF? any ideas? i was thinking maybe a vaccum leak, but i dont see where it would be leaking.

any warning lights, check engine, etc??

Dude. Boost leak test won't help on an NA vehicle. :b If there's a vac leak, it'll be behind the TB plate, which is closed while doing a boost leak test.

When's the last time your tranny fluid was changed? If it's fine in neutral, then it'd be a transmission problem, assuming it's an automatic. (If it's a manual and you're in gear and fully stopped... well duh, and I wouldn't want to be your clutch.) Also, stock idle is 750 +-50, not 1K. Sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere, or possibly had your BISS back itself out from vibration.
Since you have a 2G, it's relatively easy to pull any trouble-codes, even if the check-engine light isn't on... some don't trip it. Just head to an AutoZone or similar, and they should let you borrow an ODBII reader. Pull the codes first, just to make sure it isn't something that the car can let you know about.

Check the tranny fluid level, and make sure it looks clean. If it hasn't been changed in the last 60K miles (not sure about slushbox maint intervals), it might be time to see about doing so. If it looks fine, pop it over to a mechanic... autos tend to be a PITA to diagnose, and work on.

2gnt idle is 900 rpm +/- 100

Check the EGR, i had a similar problem and then it slowly got worse, then the check engine light came on. worth checking

ya also check ## sensors. itcould be the iac or the tps. and if it is im sure it would throw a code good luck!
