Ok so I bought a used HKS intake for my GVR4 ($75 plus $60 for a fresh red element) and I know intakes are just about the easiest thing in the world to install but Im a little hesitant. For one, Im at college and I dont have any tools, and this install would probably take place in a parking lot. And also in part, Im not sure where all the vacuum hoses are going to hookup and Ive heard that I have to move the stock boost controller to a new position. Just wondering if anyone knows how similar the install is to a 1g intake install. I know of a guy that goes to tech running 7s in the 1/8th with his 2g so I think I can get him to help me out. Am I worrying way to much about an intake install?...probably.

Pics are before I painted the metal mesh black and before the new 200mm red replacement element.

I wouldn't worry about installing an intake in a parking lot. I installed my injectors, fuel pump, gm maft, intake, and uicp in college parking lot last year.

autozone sells a cheap, sears a more expensive, tool kit that has a few 3/8 sockets, a few combo wrenchs. Then a few screwdrivers (or just buy a chear all in one screw driver nice for the car toolbox) a hex key set, they sell those all in one look like a weird pocket knife hex sets where they just unfold. and a few misc pliars and a wire cutter. It can fit into somehting as small as a shoe box. It great for the car, unless racing since it weight. But will allow you to do much of the simple bolt ons. plus tools are usually a good lifetime purchase unless you loose them in the engie bay abyss. I know mine ate 2 10mm 3/8 drive sockets. Found one when installing the front mount

***EDIT*** a wirestripper, crimper combo thing and xact blade of some sort. you will eventally need these

its freckin easy, 3 out of 10 on the hard factor. :dsm: you know where you can talk to me more if you need help.

Ricky.
