I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT A HKS BOV, I RECENTLY BOUGHT THIS BOV FROM TITAN MOTORSPORTS AND WHEN RECEIVED I GOT AN HKS SQV BOV AND THE BOX LOOKED KINDa OLD FASHION , NOT OLD LIKE GRIIMY AND STUFF BUT OLD FASHION YOU KNOW, AND WHEN LOOKING AT THE PRODUCT I FOUND THAT THERE WAS NO ADJUSTABLE SCREW IN THE BACK, I CALLED AND ASKED WHY IT WASNT THERE AND HE TOLD ME THAT
"IT WAS THE NEWER MODEL AND IT DOESNT HAVE THE ADJUSTABLE SPRING ON THE BACK CAUSE ITS NEWER AND IF YOU WANT A DIFFERENT SOUND YOU GOTTA BUY A DIFFERENT FIN"
IS THIS TRUE OR DID I GET HAD BY SOME HALF ASS VENDOR???????


someone please let me know if i got sold an old version of this bov or is this really the new model

hmmmm I ve never seen it without the screw. but anyway the screw isnt what changes the sound. its actually the fin. the screw is there to adjust the pressure of the spring. less psi less pressure. more psi more pressure. may be its a new super technology self adjusting valve. jaja just kiding but who knows.

see now thats what i was thinking what if its one of those ebay bov with a hks sticker and box, who knows but if I cant adjust the spring doesnt that mean i should return it?????

That doesnt look like any advertised HKS SSQ i've seen. Return that thing and make sure they're not pulling a fast one on you. And besides, you dont sound too confident in it, which is another reason to "return to sender" WTF

Looks like a fake to me...

Look at the blow off(the so called fin), see if it says hks on it. If not you got a fake. All hks i've seen have it marked there with the name. Even hks old plastic bov was marked with hks there too.

I cant beleive this but wow; so i call up hks after reading that this might be a fake and ask them "hey whats up with the new style ssqv did you guys stop making them with the adjustable screw??" and the deuche bag told me "what are you talking about ? nothings changed, im sorry that you got sold that we cant help you with it", so i got pissed and called up titanmotorsports being very pissed that this guy was cool as $hit to me, hooked me up with a cheap flange, and then sold me a fake bov, so I called him up spoke to em and told him the story, sent him the pics and he was like "wtf send that back to me ive never seen that $hit before" which was cool, so then i get ready to send it back and he e-mails me back saying "hey man that is the new bov but if you still want to return it, its cool" so i call hks back up and ask them again so that i dont look like the dumb ass and guess what the guy @ hks says???? the same thing the dude from titan motorsports says and im like what the fuc......wow me, so i was like well some guy told me thats not true like two days ago and hes like "well im sorry but yea its the new bov" so I feel like an a$$hole now for calling up titan and saying that dumb sh1t after they already told me it was new, and they were cool about it, but over all they were awesome to deal with, got a human being on like the first ring, no hassle and spoke to the same guy every time and if i didnt get him i just said his name and two seconds later "this is sean" so moral of this story....hks changed their bov and hey titanmotorsports is selling them for cheap, thanks for all the help everyone.....

He said the screw didnt do anything inthe first place, he told me that they stopped putting them on cause it doesnt really do anything and thats all he had to say.

I can't imagine not having a purpose for the adjustment screw. That just doesn't make sense to me. but hey, I don't work for HKS.....ha. not yet anyway...

Yeah, I've read that same thing in other threads about the HKS-- guys say they adjust the crap outta that screw but it doesn't change how the BOV performs at all, so HKS decided to stop putting it on there. Seems kinda strange, but whatever.

guys.... read into how the ssq bov works and you'll understand why no screw is necessary. basically the more boost there is, the harder it stays closed.

The HKS Super Sequential Blow-Off Valve (SSQV) is a dual stage pull-type relief valve. Unlike typical push type blow-off valves, the SSQV will not leak under any level of boost because the boost pressure in chamber "C" keeps the valve closed against its seat (Diagram 1). The SSQV releases excess boost when there is a pressure alteration in chambers "A & B", not by the rate of boost pressure or vacuum in the line. This ensures a quick valve response and complete closure during idle. Many competitors use a push-type blow-off valve design with a large valve to accommodate high boost / high horsepower applications. These large valves react slowly and require high pressure to open, and are not able to activate and prevent compressor surge at light-load conditions. On the other hand, smaller, fast reacting push-type valves do not discharge the airflow capacity required for high horsepower applications and tend to slowly open and leak as boost pressure overpowers the spring. For maximum performance, the HKS SSQV incorporates both a small primary valve for ultra quick activation, and a larger secondary valve for additional discharge capacity. The SSQV is engineered to initially open the small primary valve at light throttle and load conditions (Diagram 2), then sequentially opens the secondary valve for additional relief capacity under high boost and load conditions (Diagram 3). The SSQV is constructed of polished billet aluminum, which ensures long-term durability and a high luster look. The mounting base utilizes a circular mounting flange that combines with a C-clip snap ring and O-ring gasket to insure an excellent seal. The triple-fin discharge port design produces a powerful, unique and aggressive blow-off sound.

Both HKS SSQV's on 2 different DSM's of mine have worked fine and never leaked not once.

Only thing I would take over a SSQV is a TiAL BOV

whats up, yea i dont know why they changed. but we have the new ones on a 900whp supra over here with no problems. i agree going with the tial is the only othe BOV i would go with. let me know if you guys need anything.

How's the clearance in a 2G for the HKS (seems big)?

I have the ssqv in my stock uicp and it is just touching my hood insulation when my hood is closed. I can see that is it rubbing, from engine vibrations, on the insulation on inside of the hood but it is not like the hood is pushing the thing down in any way. I have hard pipe on the way anyways so i'm not worried about it. I have heard from a few people that they don't have rubbing at all in their stock piping
