High oil pressure on stock gauge

So my car has had this for 8 years. I only drive my GSX a few miles a day but get this. my oil pressure reads 3/4 high at any speed when driving eventualy it will mellow out after 10 min of driving and drop above half. it idles at a hair above half. so strange bad guage or maybee bad oil pump, or a clog somewhere.

oh ya and when there is no oil on the dipstick or just the tip it runs donw the road ant the half marker and idles at 1/4 hell i didnt enven know i was out of oil till one day i stopped hard and the oil light came on. The stock reading seem off. or is there a bigger problem.

Check and fill the oil after its warmed up. The stock gauge sender unit by the ofh can get dirty and read wrong. Try and clean it or possibly if it's bad replace it.

Nothing wrong with stock sending unit and gauge.

It's normal for oil to be thicker when cold causing higher pressure readings until the oil thins down when getting hot causing lower readings.

No oil on the dipstick = means the oil is concentrated with contaminants making it thicker until you thin it down with added oil ... why the higher pressure.

Why are you letting oil levels get so low? Got an oil consumption problem or similar?

Sounds like you may have the balance shafts eliminated from the way you describe the high pressure readings on the gauge.

The stock gauge doesn't actually tell you how much pressure you have, it's based on RPMs. Get an actual gauge if you want to know your pressure.

If you have no oil reading on the dipstick, it's leaking from somewhere and will obviously cause big problems.
