So I'm doing a stock rebuild shooting for around 400hp give or take. The donor engine is from a friend and it has 200k miles on it. I'm getting it for free, it has 40 compression across the board but I plan on junking the pistons and rods for fresh ones. My concern is the high mileage on the crankshaft. Is 200k miles on a crankshaft a bad thing? Should I try to find one with lower miles on it? The car runs and pulls great even with it's high mileage but I'm concerned about using the crank in a fresh rebuild.

Your local machinist can make a better call on this one. If it is checked for cracks, and doesn't have any, and can be polished while remaining in spec, it will be fine. But, we can't tell over the internet.

Have it Magnafluxed and checked for clearances. If all is ok and you aren't planning on huge horsepower it would be fine to use it.
